So Praetorium, residences, fractures and botanical gardens kinda fucking suck huh?

I do find it strange that they (and Albatross) were all bundled into one update and the game was rushed to 1.0 before being actually finished.
Praetorium and fragments were fine, Residences felt a bit rushed though. Even if I believe there were that few people at the base, why would they have to share rooms? They're basically some of the world's most intelligent scientists and it's not like they were hurting for space or funding.
Botanical gardens felt short too, but with *that* gimmick maybe it was actually a blessing.

Might be a hot take but I feel like the game really peaks at Flathill and never reaches the same highs as that. Manufacturing to, arguably, hydro is still pretty fun but it never quite captures the same feeling as going through Offices for the first time. Then by Reactors the gameplay goes to complete shit
Anonymous No.717754226 >>717792906
I'm actually pretty disappointed in this mod. I kinda thought she would make... I don't know, Miku sounds? Maybe she would sing while she chased you? But no, the guy just took a Miku model and stretched it over the Leyak skeleton and didn't change anything else.

On the plus side, since the Miku model absolutely does not fit on the Leyak skeleton at all, when she attacks the model stretches and deforms in horrifying ways and her arms turn into spastic noodles that flap around wildly. It's way, way more terrifying than the regular Leyak.

Oh, and the fact that jetpacks are disabled in Residences despite the fact that it's not a portal world. Fragments I could understand since it's being affected by space shenanigans, but in Residences it's a complete crutch for the level design. They should've worked around it some other way or just not bothered.
>>717753848
I liked the gimmicks in Security and Reactors, the latter being the Sniper/MG combo.
The fact that the MG shit is used again like 3 more times in Intrados, Praetorium (and arguably Botanical) is a little lazy though. The Praetorium one was a straight line which is fine, the Botanical one was a short puzzle which is also fine, but the Intrados one was essentially the same as the Reactors one; just a big open area making it more of a pain in the ass to get around than anything else. The issue is that it shows they seemed to be slowly running out of ideas to make things interesting.

Praetorium is alright except for that fucking bridge, but Fragments and especially Residences feel outright unfinished
Residences is even smaller than Security, there's no new enemies or resources, the only "gimmick" is that its cold and theres a serious lack of polish to the whole area
Fragments is neat but is still a very small area with almost nothing of substance in it, except for Botanical which was the coolest part by far but it just made me want more. So disappointing that Divarication is only for that one location, give me an entire future run-down facility to explore god damnit
Albatross would be a nice place to base if it wasnt so fucking loud, piece of shit final boss just had to leave one more shitstain on its way out
update was a 4/10 but the game is still an 8 minimum

You plug the wall outlet into the battery
The battery fills over time, visible on the little light towers on top of them
When the power goes out the battery drains to power the things it's plugged into
There's probably some stats in the background dictating how much power each thing draws and how fast the battery charges but all you really need to know is if your power goes out in the night, put another battery between the outlet and your last battery.

This game needs a lot more intermediary crafts for shit, it feels like way too much stuff is gated behind late game upgrades. I know that I'll get the charging pad later that will instacharge everything in my inventory, but why not have a something between that and the charging station? Give me a box with a couple rows of inventory space that charges stuff at the rate of one or two Crystalline Vial trinkets or something.

Yellow light is charge, blue light is load. The higher the load, the faster the charge depletes. Daisy chaining batteries is mostly ineffective, as each additional battery in the chain increases load.

Two makeshift batteries chained is sufficient to power any one single appliance or defensive structure through the night without interruption. Alternately, one carbon battery is sufficient to power three appliances or defensive structures through the night without interruption.

You really don't. The advantage of playing single player means you are always your own server admin, which means you can drop your cart anywhere, fill it up, and then go press the cart retrieval button out by Warren for free transport back to your base.

And even if you don't exploit this feature, only bringing back what you can carry isn't debilitating. You might have to make some hard choices sometimes, but 1 person's inventory size isn't unmanageable.

Played multiplayer, and we relocated our base a few times, so we'd use them to ship stuff between Offices and Manufacturing. Also drove them out to where we were exploring, for storing lots of items and bringing it back to base. After we got to cascade they stopped being useful though. Used the karts for a little while, and never bothered with the SUVs, they just show up too late and there's not a lot of use for them by that point.

My exact feeling. I honestly believe that jetpacks and the jump pack ruined the level design because now they have to expect every player will just levitate over whatever obstacle. The jump pack/jetpack should be blocked in every area until you complete it and the gravity cube should be changed to a slow fall cube.

a single industrial battery will probably power 2 fridges, but they aren't expensive so you can just place one before each fridge and you will be allright.

just remember to do Facility power > plugstrip > batteries > whatever you have to power
chaining batteries is simpler but they have diminishing returns, placing the batteries before the stations will be more consistent

once you get lasers you can do Facility outlet > Battery> laser emiter > laser splitter > laser power converter > thing you want to power

that way you can keep your entire base powered on a single battery

It's entirely dependent on if the group is working together well or not
The jump in enemy count from 1 player to 3 players is actually huge
So if all 3 of those players aren't working together to fight the extra spawns it makes it a lot more dangerous for individual players to wander around alone
And at the same time, even if you do have all 3 players working together you need triple the resources
You need ammo, weapons, and armor for all 3 of them and as a group you'll blow through any food you have saved really fast
I think the enemy spawn increases taper off at 4 players and up so it definitely seems to get way easier with 5+ especially if you have people who are more dedicated to cooking or resource collecting and are splitting up tasks.

There's no excuse that 8x stacks isn't enough room for you unless you literally refuse to set down a base with storage somewhere. You'll only find pocket watches in the train dimension, and you'll only need a few for the chains. Car batteries are only useful for hotwire kits and a recharge pad that you'll only need 1 of per base tops. Extinguishers you'll only need a few of at a time to make air compressors or tesla coils.

If you're collecting 8x of anything else, you are doing absurd amounts of work... you must be a gopher for your entire server or something.

when you wanna leave your base press t to check your watch and if it's past 5pm just do shit at your base for a few min and go to bed when the power goes out. you don't do anything for a few min but you'll fix your in-game sleep schedule that way. you should probably be heading back to your base every day anyway to empty your bag with loot or you'll find a bed while you're out.

it's not hard to make a lot of batteries and portal worlds reset every 3 days so just make a battery bank and don't worry about how much you need. if it drains before the next morning overnight keep adding batteries until it doesn't. the bank is plugged into the wall so it doesn't drain during the day. you're minmaxing something that gives you nothing extra for doing it. you can also run wires pretty effectively and out of the way too that can use up your brain power if you think that's what you're getting out of trying to efficiently use batteries.

tldr if you hate youtube is every device uses the same amount of power and needs 54 "energy" to stay on overnight with default time settings, so a makeshift is just too low for one device and industrial is too low for two. The only things that actually need to stay on all night are fridges, aquariums and leyak containment so it only really matters for those.

I just keep it to six devices per carbon battery which pairs nicely with the six slots on a plug board.

Anything I build on the windowsill is angled, so I can't do the bridge+rope trick I needed to do to solve placing several ropes before this, so instead I just have to make a big ugly ramp since if I set up a jump pad I have to aim for it every time I run out the window (sucks) and I have to crouchjump every time I try and take the jump pad up to the window (sucks)
