What fucked up balance so much? Why didn’t Blizzard ever try and fix it? And by fix it, I mean actually fix it not make it so both factions be friends and party together.

That and nobody likes to play on a server where there's a 2:8 or 7:3 ratio so they go on a server that's closer to 5:5 or 4:6 meaning the gap widens even more on one sided servers.
And the only thing they can do is offer free faction changes.

For starters there should've never been any factionalization in WoW.
Have The Horde and Alliance have their Cold War-tier conflicts and proxy battles in the background while the players either chill out no matter the race, do quests and stop global-scale threats and resolve conflicts because both sides will shit on everything one way or another.

PS: Night Elves and Forsaken should've never been part of the Alliance and Horde. Same with Blood Elves being part of the Horde.

I stopped playing during wotlk but I assume the same is true today.
Horde was lower pop during classic because no pretty girl/boi race. Blood elves changed that. Then the longer the game lives the sole fact of alliance racials sucking dick becomes the cause, at some point only turbo-optimising powergamers stay with the game. Troll gets haste bonus that's always useful, pvp, pve, healer, tank, dps, doesn't matter. Night elf gets to run to his corpse faster after he gets killed by an orc(who has some cc immunity iirc and can trade healing received for damage for a short while). Human in wotlk and later was probably the only exception from that rule.

Once BC hit most racials were better for the horde than alliance, with the exception of the occasional pvp one such every man and stone form. It doesn't matter if the difference is 1% or not, mmo players will blindly follow what ever someone says is the best. This leads to a cascading issue of an already unbalanced server becoming more unbalanced since people want more players to interact with. I had this issue before I quit at the end of wrath, my server was like 1:4 alliance horde ratio which made getting groups or world pvp a chore.

Either let every race choose a faction, or get rid of combat racials (may be too late).

Racials and Blood Elves skewed the balance to Horde after Vanilla, and by the time they compensated, people were entrenched in the Horde. Alliance racials are better now, but raiding guilds don't want to go through the mess of changing factions of all their people's characters and alts.

You could do it like Pandaren where you choose a faction after completing their leveling zone.

In TBC, racial imbalance was much, much lower though. The real advantage Horde had in TBC was far easier access to shamans and their Blood Lust.

WoW is a MMO. A totally different thing.
And all the players becoming adventurers would eliminate factionalization due to the fact that banding together for pragmatic reasons is something that would happen in a MMORPG set in a fantasy setting.

Blizzard are retards. They deliberately gave Horde better racials to try and help balance out faction balance since they knew aesthetics wise most people would prefer Alliance. The problem is, that in TBC they introduced Blood Elves which had the most appealing aesthetics of all, and put them on Horde, AND gave Blood Elves the usual overpowered Horde racial on top of that.

At that point, the Horde became the more popular faction, and it just never stopped snowballing after that. By Legion, you were insane not to be on Horde if you had any interest in late game content, since you could find groups in half or less the time for raiding or M+ or rated PvP on Horde as compared to Alliance. Which of course, furthered the already rolling snowball effect, and by BfA only absolute casuals who just leveled up alts or collected pets existed on Alliance side. PvP itself would've died even earlier than it di if they hadn't introduced mercenary mode to try and keep enough players in BGs for Horde to actually get matches. And of course, ultimately they just gave up balancing them altogether and now everything is cross faction. A great example of the ultimate failure and idiocy that are faction based systems, you might stave off the inevitable for a while, but ultimately one side or the other will become more desired and everyone will flock to that, and the entire structure of the game will collapse. This is why WoWs original plan of a race based structure would've been much better.

Vanilla was more alliance heavy.
Blood Elves in TBC tipped things massively to Horde.
Racials caused an effect over time where everyone eventually went Horde.

Best example of this is Method: they were regularly top 3 world while being an Alliance guild from Vanilla to Cata, and then switch to Horde in MoP where they began to win every raid race. MoP also signalled a massive focus for DPS on stacking cooldowns since so many had been added to the game, which just made the troll racial ridiculous. Eventually the prevailing view was that if you wanted to play "seriously" you needed to be Horde.
There were some exceptions to this on the pvp side of things with the strength of the human racial, but the pvp playerbase has been smaller than the pve one. Even if people don't raid, they want to be on the faction with the biggest numbers.

I'd agree it's an afterthought now, but not that it always has been.

I've played since 2005 on a PvP server and before servers were merged and layered world PvP was very much a part of the game.

The EPL towers in Vanilla were a constant battle. The zone control bonuses in BC were reason enough to organize groups and PvP. Wintergrasp in WotLK was also a big deal a lot of people participated in to access the raid bosses.

By the time Cata came along, dungeon finder and flying basically killed interaction. Tol Barad was still a popular event, but I do not recall doing any significant organized world PvP to control zones.

Later Blizz just let you complete PvP objectives through PvE since they could not guarantee enough players would engage.

Alliance had the better racials, then Blizz nerfed, then Horde has had the best racials for many expansions. Stun resist is too broken for PvP and rocket jump is unbelievably broken in a pve setting.

Because that takes effort and an entirely new game system. Like basically make a new game requirement.

Blizzard has fucked themselves to the point that "WoW 2" is impossible because they have burned all their bridges to keep the trannies playing retail and have released "Classic" that is more broken and buggy then private servers. They cannot afford to develop a new game at this point with how much they are burning and trying to nickle and dime players with all their games. Shareholders don't care, executives don't care and the devs are braindead fanatics for what exists.

They have atleast put SOME ways into the game to allow balance in the PvP aspects, but you just have to make multiple characters which can be leveled up easily with enough time and heirlooms OR money.

It's fucked. Let it die, there is nothing worth salvaging anymore. The last decade of lore rape as left this corpse more seman then whatever it was
