As someone who used PC my entire life I don't understand Nintendo.
Are you telling me that there's a $500 console designed to play indie-level games that cost full price? That sounds crazy. I love small indie games, but part of their appeal is that they all cost less than $20 and can run on my office laptop. Who in their right mind would spend that much money to play fucking Mario or whatever? They may be great games but not at that price.

Contrarianism or not, this board, and outside of it, are people who grew up with this particular brand, and will see nothing wrong with the practices that are emitted from it. Regardless of how much they are kicked to the dirt figuratively, the desperate mind wants to believe the problem isn't there, and so they continue to consume.

But it's actually not just this particular brand. Just look at almost any country, any society these days. Regardless of how bad things get, so long as the people are satiated with the little things that distract them from their problems, they don't rise to fight back, to make things better for themselves.

I'm a lifetime pc user since 2001 and I even played most switch games on my pc but you're a fucking moron if you think switch games are easy to emulate, try going smash ultimate with 8 players and item spawn at high to see how it goes, same for botw/totk at 60fps, they aren't easy to emulate.
And when you actually do, you're wasting 500watts to play something at the same resolution and quality the switch 2 does at 19watts

I could recommend most games in the picture I posted, with the exception of Bunny Garden being more of a guilty pleasure
Rabi-Ribi is pretty good if you're seeking out a metroidvania and EDF is my personal favorite game franchise (4.1 being a entry point for newcomers, 5 has QoL features but its pacing is slower), it's a fun shooter in which you fend off hordes of giant insects, robots and aliens. Switch ports are JP-only however.

yeah I have a good memory of Valve not tolerating people who try to take advantage the regional pricing system, not a risk worth anything.
Meanwhile I do have two separate Eshop accounts, with the Japanese one not requiring a VPN setup to buy anything. The sole minor inconvenience is the prepaid cards being the sole payment option for a gaijin like myself

Its a great system, especially if you're already invested in the ecosystem. I've been playing my s2 every day since I got it. MKW, Bananza, BotW/TotK 60fps, just picked up Echoes of Wisdom and DQ III HD-2D. Metroid later this year. Might double dip on Elden Ring if the port is actually competent.

Pc ruined gaming for me. It plays anything so you're always drowning in content. Free shit on Epic, free shit on GoG, free shit with amazon prime, nearly free shit on steam sales and humble bundle shit. Sounds great, but it also makes your backlog a thing that hangs over your head, not a thing you enjoy, like an obligation you have to your entertainment.

Anyway, I sold my 4090 when my kid came thinking I could use that 1600 later to get a 60xx or maybe 70xx because I'm not sitting behind my pc until he goes to school.
Got a switch 2 and not having a billion games feels freeing. Turning it on only shows your last played games, not a store with constant sales or whatever, just that game you were playing and the drip feed of releases is also really nice. I dont need 10 games(or in steamd case 1k+) a month. 1 big game every two months and an indie or two between them? Happy.

Did I overpay? Yeah a bit, but I'm also enjoying my passtime way more so maybe not.

To each their own, but having everything doesnt make you happy

If I'm not going to play that game within a week of buying it, I'm not buying it. It will 100% be on sale again and maybe even cheaper when I'm actually ready to play it
