Since the Xbox 360, developers know how many players actually play games to the completion, and it's a fixed rate of 14-20%.

I used to slide down stairs using boots with completely flat soles. You just have to place both feet on the edges of different steps, hold them diagonally and start sliding. I've been playing Soul Reaver 1 and it has the opposite issue, it's really easy to get lost due to how samey a lot of the environments are and often times I'm just walking around until I find a puzzle or platforming section and try and see if it leads anywhere, sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't and for the most part it's not that much of an issue but still it made me remember how obtuse, at times, games back when used to be
Fuck whoever designed the cathedral tho, straight up had to check a guide a couple of times to see what I was supposed to go and it lost a lot of the environmental cues the previous and following areas had
And that water level is not awful but it gets boring how often you have to go back and forth between the material and spiritual world's just for missing a step
