well, i'm calling it pragmatic in the sense that i know it's probably not going to get any better because most consumers are apathetic on the subject.
japanese companies are never going to know because they are too stupid to know if there's actually a problem or not. they'll see a game sell well despite the bad localization (granblue relink) and just go "yep that worked, keep doing it".
game didn't sell? the consumers just couldn't stomach our culture, hire a better localization team to better focus on the "target audience".
the fact that they didn't expect uma musume to be popular pretty much cements the idea that they don't understand what people want and these games will keep randomly succeeding in spite of the bad localization.
