Was their ever hype? I think I only found this game randomly going through steam curator, beforehand I've never heard of it and I still never see anybody talk about it despite it being extremely well-polished and having a really good demo that you can play.

No reason to be hyped for a game that isn't out yet and won't be for a while, just wasted energy. I backed the game so I can just sit back and do other stuff until they give me my game code.
Because the dev is an example of a retard who thinks his disgusting poopy fetishes should be totally out in the open whilst he's developing the game under the same username. Of course every single Twitter/Sharty tourist here is going to derail any sort of discussion about this game with that, it's practically low hanging fruit.
