True combos for most characters are 3-4 hits. Yes. Smash's ethos is that you ALWAYS HAVE AN OPTION against the opponent. This is why combos are so short, why you can Smash SDI out of multihit smash attacks like Pikachu's Down Smash, why you can DI moves to prevent deaths.

And more importantly, what we see over and over is that good players, ones who can READ THEIR PLAYERS AND KNOW THEIR HABITS AND ANTICIPATE THEIR ACTIONS, can string string attacks together. Strings take more skill than pulling off combos and turns the game more about STRATEGY.

More importantly the game boasts almost 90 characters. There are characters with very long actual combos, USE THEM.

Dude, I look at Melee sets in grand finals, top 8, whatever. Half the stocks are taken via edgehogs. More importantly, I see much more diversity of gameplay and strategy than either Melee or Rivals of Aether II.

2019-2021 Ultimate meta sucked. There was far less variety in the meta. Top 8s were more enjoyable to watch since the lame characters (Sonic, Steve) metas didn't advance far yet. Modern Ultimate is better. Shit is much more optimized and far more character variety. If you hate watching Top 8, then just watch sets from Top 32.
