Fight goes wrong, the team tries to back out. The player in question is running a crowd control build (Frost Mages are THE CC masters in WoW btw) but instead of doing anything to cover for his teammates runs away by himself (the rest of the team are pulling a fighting retreat and two of them die permanently in the process) and deliberately wastes his resources to justify his actions.
What really pissed people off though was his attitude throughout and after the whole incident.

They are playing a game mode where if your character dies, it gets deleted, so they're each risking about 150 - 200 hours of gameplay. They accidentally engaged too many monsters and decided to retreat to safety. Pirate (a mage) used his abilities (which cost mana) to escape faster while his 4 teammates were left behind trying to help each other escape. Overtime I've noticed that people behavior in MMOs tends to match their true personality. The guy who makes careless mistakes in raids constantly always is that way in IRL too, constantly making careless mistakes at their job.
