One of the biggest disconnects with this board I have, is with cinematic story driven games, jrpgs, Sony shit ect.
Even the most basic bitch half way decent tv show is soooooooooo far; leaps and miles ahead of video game storytelling i don't get how you can be entertained by it.
The pacing, cohesivness, and mature themes of a good TV show makes games look like paw patrol.
Now there are certain things the video game medium provides that you can't get with tv shows, the mood, ost, and exploration of a land in a game; with the story being told to you as you play through gameplay elements like bloodborne, bioshock, shadow of the collosus, but games that try to be half assed movie simulators like the last of us, or xenoblade chronicles, i am truthfully amazed how they entertain you after you've experienced some decent tv shows.

A lot of video games posted here are games you primarily play for the storyline.
Final fantasy games, mafia the old country is a new one, god of war ect.
Lots of rpgs, and crpgs you continue playing for the plot, and some of the older crpgs are decently written, but i think your underplaying the amount of games that get posted here pretty often that are storyline games.

Video game development went from "This is a passion product of collaborative effort" to "we must keep our effort as minimum as possible and get more profit from it at the same time" in 10 years after ps4 and xbox one got released and then you have dumb söys who are clapping like a seals towards graphics instead of gameplay and media like ign cheering devs 'effort' in pushing realism in vidya

You are half way there. A game can tell a better story than a movie or a tv show. Just with different tools. The problem is that the games are not using those tools but instead they try to mimick movies , with focus on retarded unimportant stuff, like motion capture, face animations and shit. just look at death stranding. Couple that with shitty writing and it's offensively bad.

No, they play them because of the presentation, nobody would play last of us if it looked like Mario 64. The point of those games is to show what the console is capable of, that's why 90% of them are first party. They just slap a narrative focus because is what 99% of the casual market would understand. It's just the safest choice, everyone is used to and can understand movies.
