XCOM 2 still has about 3000 daily players, which is pretty damn good for a single player game that came out 9 years ago.
Personally, I'd say yes.

Really want a fantasy based xcom like game, ideally long war 2 esque.
Waging a global magical war against an evil empire with different squads on different mission types would be amazing.
Not just tactical fantasy mind you, but the overarching strategic component as well

Diversity Squad was a deathblow to the IP and the nuXCom setting in general. Doesn't help that Firaxis banked on Midnight Suns doing well so 2K is probably tight on the purse strings when it comes to doing anything now.

I'm not sure how I feel about the whole Mafia storyline so far. It feels kinda odd to me and I can't really place why. I'm still enjoying it and the writing is great, but I can't help but feel like I'm going to regret following this fic sometime down the line.

At least the whole bit with City 31 was good lore fuel for fan stuff. >>717797146 (OP)
Just finished reading the latest chapter and really enjoyed it. The deluge of fanart at the end, both genuine and shitposty, was fun to scroll through.
As for X-COM 3, never say never, but I donβt see it coming anytime soon.

I think the overall idea of looking at the post-war integration was a decent enough idea, but the writing was just so abysmal and too safe. If they do XCom3 then hopefully they put in a significant timeskip like the original Apoc so it can just gloss over Chimera Squad existing.
