I think it's a stretch to even consider the switch portable. It's portable in the way a laptop is but I couldn't see myself lugging that around everywhere as a kid like a gameboy or DS.
Would need like cargo pants or a fanny pack, can't think of a way where it wouldn't be an inconvenience or where you wouldn't look like a nerd.

I think it was also a mini era crash. Everyone was supporting PS4 and PC. No body was actually supporting Xbox, Wii U, Vita or 3DS. Like it's crazy how much money Capcom and Konami made with the DS but kinda backed off after the second or third year of 3DS.

I bought the 3DS at launch, and was part of the ambassador program. My first game that wasn't messing around with AR was the OoT remake, which I liked.
I had a 3DS back when I was going to a lot of cons, so I was kept plenty busy with streetpass and the associated minigames. I fell off before they introduced the bunny with the vending machine.

I was thinking of picking up a PS4 if I can ever find one for under $40, but I don't know if its worth it. I already have so many old consoles to play on and I've got an Xbone and a PC for modern games. I don't know if its worth getting just for PS4 exclusives. The Switch I'm even more unsure about, since the Nintendo tax means it'll stay expensive, and I don't care for Mario, Smash, and Zelda.
