It actually DOES require an enormous process to simply "print more" It's not just a simple matter of printing paper. There are thousands of cards making up dozens of sets being printed at any given moment. Those not only need to be properly printed and cut, but also packed into various products and distributed. It's commonly estimated that it takes about 8 months for any changes to the printing runs to go into effect. And more importantly, they've already been printing at max capacity with the factories they currently have. To print even more they would actually need to purchase greater infrastructure, which is an enormously risky investment because they surge in demand could be a bubble that pops. On top of all that, they actually have flat out addressed the demand for certain sets and promised to print more, but thus far still haven't been able to keep up because faggot scalpers and investors literally wait for entire afternoons to clear out shelves the minute they're stocked.

Not entirely correct. They're certainly not in on it. And while they are making insane sales, it's not like they're making money off the scalper aftermarket. It would be in their financial interests to print at least some more to meet the demand, especially since the current scarcity risks driving away more devoted consumers in the longrun. They have at the very least refined their own website to make it harder for scalpers with bots to secure massive amounts of product. HOWEVER, their response to the issue has been lacking to see the least. They've failed to address the issue of affiliated distributors scalping and bottlenecking product. And while they can't just overprint cards, they can certainly increase the hitrates of packs which would effectively drive down market prices for chase cards within a set and ideally lower the demand for the set as a whole.
