There's an old fable about a Chinese peasant who earns a favor from the Emperor, but who warns him that if he thinks his ask is greedy then he'll be beheaded. The peasant asks for 100 rice bowls to be placed in the court, and for one grain of rice to be placed in the first, two in the second, four in the third, eight in the fourth and so on. The Emperor approves, thinking he'll only have to give up a couple sacks of rice. 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096.....the rice continues to multiply until eventually the Emperor steps in and begs that the peasant simply accept a fair share of the yearly harvest instead.
Now imagine that story except its Pirate failing to realize that instead of grains of rice its lines of code needed to make his logic trees work.
