Little voxel RPG with a procedurally generated world and dungeons. Could customize the look of your weapons, tame enemies to be mounts and pets and shit, had a multiplayer option so you could hop in a server or play with friends
That kind of description wasn't as eye rolling back then as it might be now, was fun enough.

I have 90% of the story written in stone.
Currently tweaking the gameplay so it is more interesting and actually fun to play.
Working on the graphics so it looks better (at the very least more memorable).
Already have many melodies for the game in my head, and will learn to make my own music before the end of the year.

There's a lot of different ideas I want to work on but it almost all gets stifled the moment I realize I need to get my life back together but then that doesn't happen and so in essence I'm incredibly poor at priorities.
For the project with the most progress, I have some art and some background writing done and that's basically it. Even now I'm struggling to finish this post because I keep thinking of other things to do.

never going to make it. i had an idea for one though.

since people seem to like staring at cameras for supernatural shit, i thought about doing it for a casino to spot cheating. however, i think that such a game is still dull as fuck, so i thought about really adding in casino management and development to it as well. design and decorate the floor, maybe manage employees and business deals, and let you walk around the game floor to check on cheating close up (but maybe cheaters hold back when you're out in person!).

I want to make a 2D top-down shipping sim game. Simple pixel graphics, no cal-arts vibe drawing shit just simple and functional graphics. Ability to render an entire planet Rimworld-style and populate it with ports, big and small, with different demands such as industry, transport, mail delivery, etc.

You start a company in a port with a small ship. You then have to make money by doing shipping work or setting up your own trade routes. Ability to manually control the ship, or automate the route. Buy bigger ships, buy more ships, grow your company, take on bigger contracts, perhaps even build your own industries and supply them with materials from elsewhere.

I only know how to program PLC's tho, and can't draw worth shit.

The irony is, he took so long to make this game even if cube world omega or whatever comes out, and is 1:1 what he advertised the OG cube world to have been, its too late.
Games have evolved, the scene has changed, whats 'in' has changed.
Back then, Minecraft was the hottest game and everyone wanted big, open, customisable worlds to explore after over a decade of closed, small, linear games. This game looked like the next step in those kinds of games

These days people are fed up with openworldslop and lazy engine-generated worlds, and want more hand crafted, linear, time-respecting games that dont waste your time with boring vapid empty land to walk over.

could have been the next minecraft.
is now going to be a meme and dead within a month. Kek at all those youtubers who pre-emptively made their accounts and names based off of this game hoping to capitalise on "minecraft 2.0"

It's a FPS open world adventure through a future city where society as been influence by vaporwave aesthetics, excessive wealth, and psychedelics. There is an oppressive ai syndicate which is both the source of the oppulence but also the source of the oppression. You fight against these agents along your journey helping the citizens take back parts of the city for humanity. You aren't just a force for good however and there are opportunities to help the shadier characters for capital gain.

I just finished building a questing and dialogue system so populating the world with stories and quests is happening right now and I'm really excited about it, in the past couple days I've already added 5 new characters with their own back stories and missions. The main story line is written and will begin to be implemented once I've gotten used to programming the smaller side quests.

This was a project I started after my best friend died during the pandemic and I wanted to create a pure form of escapism for myself, this then evolved into something I wanted to share with the world.

You can check out a trailer here, but it's about 6 months old so just about everything has improved since then including the gameplay, world, and framerate. But it gives you a good idea of the look and feel:

If you like what you see and want to support and follow the journey you can follow on patreon or subscribe to get access to the alpha builds each month, I have a big update coming this week:

The only advice I can give is, never listen to any of those fags telling you how to do X better or do Y yourself. Your only goal should be to make a prototype as fast as possible. Write the shittiest code with stolen assets in Gamemaker if you have to.

Well.. I learned my lesson years ago,
never hype anything, ever.
If it's going to be a new game or paid even to old customers, I will likely never even see it, but on the off chance he actually wants to redeem himself and offer it "for free" to anyone who bought the original, then I will give it a try, sure.

What's the worst that could happen? there's no way it could be anything but better than what we got with Cube World release
I do hope he's actually doing it
I don't mind if it takes him 5 more years, as before, I still have to question where Wollay's priorities lie.

He's practically spent a good 20% of his life on this, but of course we all know he hasn't actually been working on it, just occasional tinkering whenever he feels like it.

Game looks aesthetically accomplished and successful in creating the visages it was going for, but the 10 seconds or so of actual gameplay in the trailer look rather plain. After 5 years of devtime you definitely have something more interesting to show than a couple of enemy guys who stand in place and shoot bullets in player's direction.

it had classes, branching class paths, some form of "skill trees", cities, gliding (before Zelda and Genshin made it "normal")
it also had a little soulful character creator and race selection - for all it looked like it could become, it was the precursor Hytale (which is ironic, since Hytale too ended up being pretty much a never-ending project scam on it's funders

based dev, ive always had some ideas for games in my head that id never make, that I always wished that if one day I was in the position to make them id stick to my guns and tell any outside influence to fuck off, my vision is my vision, even if only 4 or 5 people are on my page, id rather that than change the vision for the masses

thats the biggest downside of getting the big funding from publishers, you make a lot of money and can "make it" as a dev using them, but they WILL rape your art into the ground to do so. The more popular you get, the more pressure you have to conform.
im never going to actually develop games, so im free from this reality, but godspeed anon

I think theres a game to be made out of catching casino cheating, but I don't think all the management stuff is a good idea.
I think instead you expand the premise of the game around casinos just being sketchy places. You don't just catch cheating at the tables, but you're also watching the people walking around as well, and spotting any sort of mischief/crime/supernaturalhappenings that go on.
You give the player a few options on how to respond to every "event" like ignore, warn, and evict from the premise and you make it so theres consequences to choosing the wrong option. E.g. you don't want to evict patrons who aren't really a problem because then it costs the casino money (that you would've taken from them at the games), or you warn someone who should've been evicted and they vomit all over a table rendering it useless for an hour while it gets cleaned.

I spent five years delaying the mere thought of starting, now that I started and have been at it every day I feel a dread creeping up on me that I won't be able to finish it within ~2 years even though it's an arbitrary meaningless limit

I KNOW the time will pass anyway, I KNOW I'll think "I just wish I started earlier" when it passes, I know I'll still feel the same and be years ahead than I would be if I did nothing, but I still feel like I'm too old and that my opportunity passed

stay there. the "i've tried multiple times but the internet is cruel and nobody i know personally has ever seen a line of code, let alone be capable of judging it" phase is far worse. can't grow if you're just being told literally everything you do is wrong, or 'yeah seems neat' and nothing else from an NPC.

the alpha was legit but he dropped it and fucking vanished while crying that all the sudden success and income was too painful.

yeah it's crazy how that's become myth instead of a huge lesson in how business operates. people should be keenly fucking aware of attempts at selling them 'new coke' but nope, they're as braindead as ever

yeah it was a smooth feeling game, especially at a time when constantly hopping up 1m blocks was the norm in terraria and minecraft.
bless terraria for adding single block stepping

I'd suggest you to put some more focus into shilling this considering how little views your trailer has, this is definitely more than enough to show what your game will be like and you need to put some work into building a community and following or else you'll release the game and it gets 50 reviews tops. Are you planning on doing a demo for some future Steam Next fest?

If you had the alpha, you could get a free beta code. Perhaps you did redeem it to avoid missing out but never actually downloaded it once you heard how shit it was and then just forgot about ever having the game

Just make something crap and put it out there. Then make something else. Just make things.

I already released my "something crap". Currently working on my "something else".

Finishing up the last course I wanted to complete before I started on my own game but the asset creation is so daunting. The coding shouldn't be a big issue but producing all the models, textures animations etc is going to be so much work.

It pisses me off that development is split between people who continually improve technology in service of nothing and people who can't code for the life of them but actually want to make games
Why do they do this?

It exists, but you'd need several helper bones and constraints to keep bones from getting too out of line with eachother. What engine?

coding isn't the problem, it's assets. making a game that isn't offensively ugly is very hard, you can narrow the scope of coding ambition but you can't really do that with that artistic ability.
