the most common cause is that they are leftists who got brainrotted by american politics and got assblasted with the most milquetoast of takes. like genuinely the most tame things ever, not even 1/4 of my full power level
For reference, im an actual leftist, 90% of my opinions are more aligned with the left and i voted for the left in my country. But its so much easier to be friends with rightists because they wont throw you under the bus over the most petty shit ever.
its miserable, some people will absorb moralist leftist values in exageration out of peer pressure and echo chambering in their social circles. they get overly concerned with assuring unfiltered approval towards certain groups and completely rejecting anything that criticizes their behavior for instance. They dont just write out every prejudicial person as an inherently hateful person that dislikes minorities for the sake of it, rather than predominantly being people who had bad experiences, were treated poorly, but ultimately just want to have a pleasant time and live a good life like everyone else. They will write out people for much, much less, being sometimes even willing to throw years of friendship away over it
