The world and moon jumping exploration is amazing and some of the combat mechanics and skells are awesome too but the quest design is dated 2010 MMO tier and so is the general gameplay and the writing in the Affinity Missions is lacklustre aswell as part of the story

It's a great game just as much as it is a bit shit

Like, they still don't have a break out hit that everybody agrees is "their best RPG". There's things in all Xenoblade games that can be improved on and Monolith is still getting better.

Monolith game design has improved a lot since Xenoblade X for example. There's no way X can be their best game, it's too flawed in its game design. It's an old game of theirs too, like 10 years old, Monolith have grown and improved and changed since 2015.

Think about when Xenoblade X came out. The Monolith of today would never leave out item tracking and quest tracking like they did in the original X in 2015 nor would they design something clunky like the Xenoblade 2 menus or map navigation in 2.

Just shows that Monolith's best RPG is still yet to be released. Could be their next one or the one after that.

It does have the better gameplay I agree but the story and writing let's it down. It's also a 2015 game and the quest design is dated as fuck MMO tier. The overall gameplay is dated MMO tier.

It's just placements of MMO mobs on maps. It has to formula and structure of a single-player MMO. It feels dated in this respect.

The hero that "died" saving the White Whale, Elma's tandem Skell partner that you see at the beginning of the game and that she talks about in her final affinity mission in the base game, didn't actually die but got trapped in I Can't Believe It's Not the Collective Unconscious where he saw glimpses of the Xeno multiverse, including scenes from Xenoblade 1-2-3. So Xenoblade X is confirmed as part of the same multiverse, even if it takes place in another dimension from the mainline games (well, actually 3-5 other dimensions, but that's another can of worms)

I swear to god the next Xeno game better have pilotable mechs.

Al isnt mentioned in Then And Now at all, he was gone before they landed on Mira. Her actual previous team while exploring Mira, Danny and Boris, die as detailed in a short story to two Sphinx but in the main game it sounds like an Ictus got them instead.

What do you even do in the game? i played for like ten hours and the grils were cute but the game was fucking ugly in real-time and played like a more annoying version of Phantasy Star Online and with no multiplayer.
Honest to God I have no idea why you would ever make an offline MMO, which is exactly what this is, when you could just pay a nominal fee to host servers and bait paypigs into a base fee + monthly sub + expansion fee + digital taxes + tip.
I mean, the game would be shit either way, but at least there would be some social element to it, which is always kekworthy, especially in the first couple of years.

Is this going to get a Switch 2 patch? Kinda hesitant to drop 100+h into it now that the Switch 2 just came out. I had this on my backlog and was about to play it but I'd hate to play-through it only for a patch to hit like a month later to makes it run 10x better on switch 2.

It's got a secret 60 fps mode that people were able to find in its code at launch, but for some reason there's only silence from Nintendo as to the existence of an actual Switch 2 patch that'd make that 60 fps mode "real".
