I forgot about her but she might really combo well with the squad now because whenever she retreats she goes in firstmost position, so she'll be able to always allow for quickly switching between a heishou and herself if you use Hong Lu's counter to get her back in the field.

All Heishou's activate their effects with counter. Faus wants focused encounters, you use her counter and let one enemy attack go unopposed. Once you're at 10 stacks with her this becomes a guaranteed enhanced S3 every turn since she gains 5 stacks from the assist defense and then 5 from the skill. This is the interaction they wanted to nerf, she wasn't supposed to be able to enhanced S3 every turn once you get those 10 initial stacks.

I want to preface by stating I have every ID/E.G.O in the game and a comfortable amount of shard boxes (Day 1 player), but does it make anyone else uncomfortable that PM are leaning way more heavily into forced team synergies that require excessive amounts of account resources?

If you want to fully optimize your Kong Lu you'll probably need/want:

I'm fine with "capstone" IDs being built like that because it allows the ID to be completely busted whenever run properly, but not just a permanent best in slot for the sinner. Even without the team comp, if you plan on the ID being busted with proper support then it can still be on par powerwise with other IDs without support. Plus, loading all of the team synergies into the singular leader unit is much better for having the team synergies, because then all of the fodder units aren't arbitrarily gimped for not being run with each other.
Finally, if you really do consider them "capstone" IDs, then why not have the strongest theoretical type of team comp in limbus be the story synergistic teams based around a the sinners' story based IDs? Seems appropriate to me

Not a huge fan of it personally. I'd prefer for IDs to be strong on their own while still providing solid support to their archetype. Capo Meursault is the type of design for IDs that I'd like to see more of, where they work well on their own but benefit from working in a team that synergizes with them. If he had a passive like "If Soldato II Sinclair is deployed, replace Tigermark Rounds with Savage Tigermark Rounds" where a part of his kit is locked behind another unit, I think he'd be far less fun to use and far less interesting overall. I know modern team building is mainly just putting the newest ID for an archetype in that team and replacing the weakest member, but that's still more engaging to me than always slotting in 5 Heishou IDs in your rupture team just so you can get full access to Hong Lu's kit that makes him a broken unit (until he gets powercrept in 2 cantos).

Here's my schizo take but I unironically think all the attempts to futureproof stuff with regards to balance has unironically been bad for the game's balance in the long run. The obsession with hard capping stuff into oblivion means that most of the time weird interactions aren't allowed to exist and more gimmicky IDs flounder, so the main way of actually setting new headliner IDs apart is more coin power and more +% damage multiplying leading to power creep.

Getting resources for free at the start is great, the extra lunacy for more initial rolls is amazing. Some resource progression tips:
I'm not sure when the grind content unlocks (exp lux/thread lux/mirror dungeons), but the modules will only help you with that since story content always uses raw enkephalin. Always save enkephalin boxes for raw enk content rushing.
In terms of early game focus, use thread to uptie your good 000s to tier 3 ASAP, it's basically a minimum cultural standard. Most 00s are useless, and 0s get uptied for free so don't spend on them. Story EXP gain is balls, so you need to do Lux. Levels aren't too important in small differences, but big differences can end up unplayable since your clash power gets nerfed by 1 for every 3 levels difference.
Thankfully, if you have a bunch of modules to spend on Lux when you unlock it, your manager level is going to shoot up which will increase your enk cap so you don't have to convert as often.
At the start, rolling with lunacy is great, but when you unlock all the lux's and mirror dungeon, and your enk cap get to be like 120 or so, the daily lunacy refresh starts being really fucking good and you'll still be making enough lunacy to roll some, just not as fast

First refill a day is 26. Second is 52. That's 78 in total times 7 days is 546, which is less than the 750 MD provides weekly. No fallacies here, just raw math. Paired with the fact that the gacha is genuinely terrible and you're better off Dispensing anything you can, only dumping for things you can't get otherwise/things you have to wait a long time for. Which is obviously the big value of Lunacy refills. At 180 Energy max, (level 190+lol), you get 9 Modules per Lunacyfill, which at 2-a-day is an extra 126 Modules a week, or 25 MD runs, which is 75 BP levels, which is 75 (225 if you buy pass) extra boxes a week. With Pass, that's more than 1 entire ID/EGO a week. That same 546 Lunacy would be... 4 pulls, which has a microscopic chance of giving you a RANDOM 3* Unit (which can be a dupe).

I think you could've had it way cheaper by just getting 4 rerolls, increase cost gain alongside taking the card gift that gives a nice discount to other gifts in the beginning of the dungeon.
