This will eventually affect other games.

I'm glad I took both the retro/old games pill and the pirate pill. I would be pretty pissed if Steam asked for my ID alongside dick pics to access my library.

They already have your fingerprint with your phone, if you use a face unlock which is even more retarded if you do that, they have your face too.

It's interesting that even a giant like Rockstar has to bend the knee, where is the socialist that like to whine that corps have more power than governments nowadays? Come on, it's the biggest gaming company right there bending the knee just as a way to avoid getting the boot.

Flawless ID verification is easy to implement if you're willing to actually go all in on it and invest some money in the program. JUST set up offices where people would show up in person with their real documents and acquire their online ID. How the fook are you going to cheat your way out of that?

the problem with the west is every 5-10 years the establishment comes out with some draconian bullshit under the pretense of something it's taboo to be against and then some vocal minority of uppity retards everyone else doesn't feel like getting browbeat by carries that torch until it actually becomes legislation. I'm starting to believe suffrage was a KGB psyop or something like the free love movement was

>>717820875
yeah, all this shit is just easing people into it. tie it to SSN and tie every little bit of activity online to this ID and bam, ez. east asian countries already do stuff similar to this to try to keep their digital walled gardens whitu piggu free afterall.

They wont. The israeli tech used for this is just to scoop up info about you for advertising. Btw it was breached in 2024 already so have fun millions of jeets accessing your data if you verify online.

Not even 30 yet and I fucking despise the absolute state of this world. Growing up, it was drilled into me to NEVER post anything identifiable of me online, not only by the government at the time but by teachers in school and my parents. Its why I stayed the fuck away from social media and stuck to games. Now they want me to hand over all identifiable data for almost everything and if I don't the powers that be see me as some kind of criminal for wanting to have some privacy.
At this rate, won't even be able to take a shit without going through some kind of ID verification to unlock the toilet in a decade or so.

Isn't this what the UK did with porn a few years back? You had to go to a newsstand and show your ID which they'd verify as real and then they'd give you an access code to give to your ISP and they'd unblock the porn sites for you.

When I started applying for jobs over a decade ago I got multiple rejections with the reason stated being "We couldn't find you on Facebook".
It's only gotten worse since then.

Not having a social media presence is seen as shady. Many companies not only require you to use social media, they require you post everything publicly so they can see it or make you "friend" their HR manager.
They use this to screen potential hires to see if they engage in anything that might make the company look bad or be liable at some point in the future.
Millions of people have been rejected from jobs because they don't have Facebook, or their Facebook account contains too few posts, or they posted a picture of themselves drinking at a party and that's an indicator of a risk that the company would rather not deal with.

Obviously its different when you share it with the company or government in charge of making the online environment safe and accountable vs when you share it with some random pedo.
That advice was never given because of the anarcho-commie rationale you are using now.
Don't be disingenuous.

I don't know about that but actual paid shills from India are given folders with hand photos to use so it's all meaningless. Chances are that yours will end up used too if you post one and it isn't very specific to the conversation at hand.

you can't verify with just an ID alone, you also need to verify that's it's you on the ID by using the camera in real life and taking selfies and 3D views. So good luck.

>isn't this what teh UK did with porn a few years back?
No? That's fucking outlandish even considering the new Online Safety Act. In the UK ISPs usually turn on the safe browsing mode by default when you set up your broadband which does prevent access to a lot of sites, but you can usually turn it off in the router settings and if you can't, you can just call support and they'll turn it off for you.
