Not OP but I think AA had a lot of different aspects that make it as good as it was.
Of course the most glaring ones are playing as a defense attorney in court trials and the gameplay focusing on pointing out inconsistencies to slowly solve a murder mystery (or rather, how to corner the culprit Columbo-style), but I can also point out at the banging soundtrack that makes it come across as particularly dramatic and the quirky characters. The writing is also very typical of these 90s show mixing a lot of comedy and more serious plots.

AA is a completely random, slightly retarded format of VN. I don't know how creatively bankrupt a developer you would have to be to need to make a VN in that exact format or how autistic you would have to be to limit your consumption of them to stories told through courtroom battles.

I had some vague ideas for a detective game similar to AAI where you investigate a murder with supernatural stuff and cults and what not. Biggest obstacle is the huge amount of art that'd require.

1st case is too chinese prob due to it being a demo first. Starting case 2 to 5 it becomes more japanifornia. Also there's a big case connecting all 5 cases so it's really like Ace Attorney. I highly recommend Trials of Innocence to scratch the itch.
