Never ever played as a sorcerer, what's the most fun build? magic swords + magic pure magic build? A cold infused weapon with spells added? Spells mixed with incantations sound like the most interesting option but I don't know how good that'd be and I would have to dump a lot of levels into that.

I recently did a sorc playthrough, I'd say only have a weapon for the super early game before you can get carian slicer, also keep it upgraded for Rennala because you will just torture yourself if you try to beat her with magic. Carian slicer should be your main swing, carian phalanx on a shield to eat enemy projectiles... I ended up running Slicer, Adula's Moonblade, Spiral Shard and Comet. Frankly a lot of the other spells are just filler or stuff you use before you get the really good stuff. I also used Comet Azur but only on the big openings like Malenia's Aeonia, honestly it was a very fun run.

Dripsouls is the most important part, never unequip Carian chest armor. Nightflame sword + wand in right hand, shield in left hand. Only think in terms of efficiency: no meta, no meme. Ranged attacks 45%, AOE attacks 45%, buff 10%., as you please.

I used to think souls games are lame and dancing bosses are lame but I genuinely enjoyed Elden Ring.
I did play as mage which was loads of fun

I have 88 minutes in this game. Tried it out during one of those phases where I start playing a new game and drop it after an hour or so and try something else until I eventually just don't play anything for a few weeks. I'll give it another try at some point.

NTA, I liked the game and the lore so I wanted to beat her to finish every bit of content. She just wasn't enjoyable for me, too much bullshittery to pander to the hard soulz crowd in a cheap way. Messmer, Godfrey and especially Mohg (really rewards exploration and RPG elements) were the best bosses in the game for me. I'd also like Morgott if he had like 18k hp instead of 10k when you're nearing endgame.

You can win the boss fight. It's hard (unless you have ranged attacks) but if you empty his HP before he empties yours, he dies and gives you some equipment early. Seriously though, just fight whatever you can currently beat until you're skilled and prepared enough for something tougher. It's an open world, you can explore anywhere you want to.
