The writing is terrible past the Kamoshida arc. Dialogue in social links doesn't matter. Puzzles in dungeons are way too simple. Mementos shouldn't be mandatory. The card game in Royal is really cool but it should be playable from the hideout. It's mostly the writing that lets it down.

Idiotic changes to balance in Royale to make the game babby mode(Seriously, I had to go out of my way to not use the dlc Personae since they were so broken and there was no way of removing them from the game, they also take slots reserved for other Personae so they actively gimped my during my whole playthrough, fusion alarms are very broken, triple marakukaja from the antique suit dealer is also game breaking for how early it lets you use it)
The dialogue could be shortened as characters constantly repeat shit.

Dragged out ending that lost its own message for the sake of pointless gnostic symbolism.
The entire story worked perfectly when the Treasure of humanity was the Holy Grail, and Sloth was the supreme sin of man.
Having the Holy Grail unfold into Yaldabaoth is nonsense. Man did not make the Demiurge. Man does not long for the Demiurge. The Demiurge making a world of bone towers and blood rain does not gratify the great hunger for Sloth. "And here's Satan with the fucking six shooter" just muddles the message. Why is there a seven sins bullet when we are trying to combat the avatara of Sloth Itself? Sin is not our friend. God is not our enemy.
The Holy Grail was the perfect symbolism. It is the concept of an easy solution, of a miracle, of letting someone else solve all your problems. Yaldabaoth does not fit this mold. It's ugly how far they went to hammer in the idea of "rebellion means LUCIFER" imagery at the last moment. Inelegant. Disgraceful.
All in all Persona 5 went on for about 20 hours too long. The last delve into Mementos to face the Holy Grail should've been the way the story wrapped up, just add a bit more flair to it and cut the final sequence completely.

I played SMTV recently and looked up some videos about builds, so now I'm getting my Youtube time-line spammed with SMT stuff.

But what's funny is the many videos I'm getting of these basement dwellers and neckbeards making cope videos about how much better SMT games are than Persona or that Persona 5 sucks. I even got a few about how much better SMTV is than Persona 5 and I honestly have to laugh at these contrarian coping nerds.

Persona 5 is by far the best game Atlus has ever made to this date and no SMT game comes even close, let alone SMTV. Persona 3-4-5 are on a league above any other game Atlus has ever made.
