Using AI as prototyping tool.
I think AI art and AI code are good enough for a prototype.

In the sense is much better to have a playable prototype of your idea you can test, instead of wasting more than a weekend on it.

I was able to get to a playable state my chicuelas 256 game in like 4-5 days.
And that's 100% amazing because I have a playable version I can show to others instead of being random ideas in my mind.

How is this any different from using random placeholder images from google?

you will never finish a single game or produce anything of value, cris

Yeah dude, nobody's gonna fault you for using AI for a build of a game that reasonably nobody but your circle of testers will play

All the AAA games use AI now. If Grove Street Games can do it, so can you.

Placeholder programmer art is superior.

I just tell AI to play the game it made and tell me how I liked it.

gamers have been conditioned to accept unfinished games for almost two decades now, they are perfectly conditioned to accept "prototype" AI assets as a final product. studios know this and would be retarded to not take advantage.

this hasn't been the case at all, there's been nothing but backlash even for shit that doesn't matter like background text in the alters.

developers are going to realize very soon that the "backlash" is not real, and more like pic rel

If it's for prototyping that literally isn't a problem

There are many other ways it is helpful outside directly generating stuff too. For one, it is a great learning tool. You can have it generate personal lessons, collect information, and even give you working examples of code that you can study. It only gets better in this regard as time goes on so it will only become more helpful and consistent (I know that Chatgpt 4 would sometimes make mistakes in code, I don't know if 5 has completely fixed this yet or not). I've also found a cool use with 3d models that could likely be used on 2d art too. Uploading an image of your work and asking the AI if it is recognizable what you are doing. It can even give you advice as to where it looks innacurate or how to make it more convincing. With 3d models specifically, you can also have it collect tips for you as you which parts to detail and exaggerate based off of how you envision the game and which parts to give special detail so they can be animated. Any time you experience an issue in a program such as not knowing which buttons to click in Blender for instance, you can just ask the AI and it will assemble a step by step guide for you. Chatgpt is really great for learning and collecting information. It is now easier than ever to make your own game.
