The Slop tube mines are a combo of gambling and mining. You need to create "content" to stay relevant and to compete against other "contnet creators". But there's only so many things to say about so many topics. Thus there's a strong push to say bullshit and nonsense endlessly. Stop seeing yotuubers as individuals, but rather see them as a cog in a machine.

Each one is balancing creating content fast, but trying to make sure it doesn't sound like obviously made up slop even though it is, and also hoping it will trend well.

No, it's not some le smart 14 year old thing, it's a platform thing. Social media started as original pioneers trying to say something new, but they got too big, too corporate, and too much driven by algorythms, so there is literal depth or originality. You ahve to go to books and longform sources to get any depth on a topic. But, social media cuts into these more and more each year, meaning "legacy media" is vanishing.

The future is 100% algo slop increasingly created by AIs until the end of time. We won't have any unique culture or ideas, just whatever the algos of 5 tech companies dictate at any given time.

I think they realized that videos that present themselves as smart are more profitable that actually coming up with original takes on things. I've seen so many videos with this deep wondering music, and they don't really say anything, they just go around a topic with a word salad but not really having any points in it. They also have so many dramatic pauses that are followed up by nothing.

I've come to the conclusion that any free open platform means infinite competition, and means both a race to the bottom and information pollution. Rather than making it easy to research something, they make it harder. We're seeing this with the rise of "listicle" sites and outright AI sites designed to grab search results but say nothing of value. the internet is being swamped by pollution.
