Its actually over. TSMC isn't going to pour endless money into advanced process nodes to compete with themselves and advancement in hardware is much more dependent on fabs than it is chip designers. Hope you like today's tech because it won't be getting any better in the foreseeable future.

intel going bankrupt, they have abandoned cutting edge chip manufacturing which means they have given up competing with tsmc. TSMC is the only player in the world and will remain so till china gets in gear.
