As time went on, HW1's story struck me more and more with just how character-free it is. Every fucking piece of media these days is so obssessed with *characters*. People buy games based off character designs more than anything, every shooter needs to be a hero shooter, trailers for games just show off the fucking characters primarily, and so on. There's no actual plot-driven games centered around *things happening*. HW1 stood out as this shining beacon of how effective a videogame story can be without any characters at all, just events and actions and player input.
HW3 pivoting the entire series being about the only character they could pull out, and putting them in cutscenes like this, was just an indescribable feeling.

Homeworld 3 is a case studio of how one can bury a franchise that's still remembered 20 years after it's debut in a blink of an eye by hiring propagandists who have no respect nor loyalty to anything but their agenda.
