Ng+ is a fine thing for the weirdos that want to play the same game forever.
Just don't lock anything behind it.
>Good NG+: No extra content unlocks, either you get to clown on the game with all the super badass gear you got on your first playthrough or the game gets harder
>Bad NG+: Mandatory to see all the content and get the perfect ending

Games with NG+ almost never have more than maybe 5% of content locked behind it, and even that's only if you count maybe a few new weapons or outfits as content. New areas, quests, characters, mechanics, etc. usually aren't present.
An ostensibly disingenuous image.

NG+ is a good mechanic if the game is designed for it with choice and consequence, then you do you first fresh run and then NG+ to do the other mutually exclusive choices. MMBN4 (which is basically literally your pic) was not doing it right.

NG+ doesn't normally lock certain portions of the game off, and even if it does odds are the game is short enough for it to not be a big deal. Any issues you might have with NG+ is more down to how the devs implement it than the concept of NG+ itself.

It wasn't challenging anyways. Final Fantasy mode that is, the game is kind of piss easy especially on NG+ since you have all the abilities unlocked and can just kill everything spamming whatever combo does the most DPS, I remember getting the right cooldown such that I could almost always be using a special ability that makes you invulnerable while using, it was pretty abusive.

The problem is gating things like difficulty modes behind repeated playthroughs or New Game +.
Forcing everybody to sit through a tutorial version of the game before allowing them to access the "real" game is objectively poor design. If a dumbass wants to play a game on the highest difficulty the first time without bothering to learn how the game works, then they deserve to suffer. But there is no reason to punish skilled players with pointless time wasting gameplay just so they can play the game how it was intended.
