It made me start playing Battlefield 4 again. I couldn't get into 6. Cairo played like operation locker/metro which I hate, and the Mountain map was a sniper-fest.

Yes the maps are the biggest problem with the game.
Even the "big" mountain map in the beta is medium sized at best and has so little room for aircraft to maneuver that there isn't even and airfield.

There are supposed to be 2 larger maps in the full release, one of which is from BF3. Still rather disappointing though.

Presumably at least one of the larger maps at release will have an airfield, but the Liberation Peak map in the beta only has a small helipad. The jet just spawns in the air.

In case you somehow failed to notice the game is designed primarily to capture disillusioned CoD players.
Other than the maps we just played, there are two infantry-only maps and another map described as close-quarters making at least five of the nine launch maps CQC-focused. Counting Liberation Peak and the newest Operation Firestorm remake there are only three launch maps that contain jets. The final map has helicopters but no jets, maybe a comparable size to Liberation Peak at best.

The game is LITERALLY 2042 with small cod maps. The end game screen is the same they didn't change damn thing. The way you pull your chute is the exact same as the wingsuit where you magically keep your elevation and glide. It's a DLC.

With a name like Empire State, the map next week should be some chunk of this and be the Siege of Shanghai clone. But instead, it's some infantry-only meat grinder in Brooklyn. I know Brooklyn qualifies to use that name being in NY state, but there's also a map on release called Manhattan Bridge. For all I know that will be a tiny map too and they're too pussy to add jets to Manhattan.

Sure, you have to have avenues for flanking so the map doesn't get locked down but they need to tighten it up so you dont constantly get shot in the back. It didn't even work, so how could i miss it? this is the worst state beta Dice has ever fucking released. Goddamn what a disaster this studio has become. Not even Battlefield V had a beta this shitty. I heard 2042 was bad on beta, so maybe it's fitting.

My takeaway from the beta is that there were no memorable moments that I can look back on after ten hours of gameplay.
Every match feels the same, with the same shootouts in the same areas with people shooting you from behind or the side. You kill one guy and then another two pops up around the corner.
BF is supposed to be a sandbox shooter and this one feels the most restricted in the series yet.

I think the tran even posted his hands to show he wasn't cheating, which makes no sense. The aimbot could work in a way that you still have to look around, but it automatically locks on to people. I've used an aimbot in a single player game that worked exactly like that.

Reaching Rank 20. Played throughout the whole 4 days semi-casually and it took me all 4 afternoons to beat it. Around 15 hours total physically playing matches, not counting my time waiting in the lobby.

Support is a close 2nd. The moment I saw the challenges I immediately went out of my way to complete those first because I knew the support revives would only get harder as time goes cause randoms don't want to wait and competing with other people putting off doing it last minute.

I think all week 1 challenges carry over to week 2 for people to complete them. At least it was confirmed that 'Reaching Rank 20' would carry over into this week so I don't see why the others wouldn't as well.

If you want to complete them all, and your just starting this weekend, you'll really have to hunker down and play cause rank 20 does take a long time to reach. Breakthrough made grinding a lot easier cause your constantly in the shit on either side. There's too much down time running point to point on Conquest.

That's what I did. You have to actively play a certain way to do all the Challenges. Assault and Recon can be done by playing normally, but you would still have to play as those classes. Engineer and Support can only be done by focusing on repairs and revives.

I had fun but the game has issues. It's so hard to see anything even with settings like depth of field, film grain, and motion blur turned off. The lighting and colors (color grading?) cause everything to blur together. The maps also felt infantry focused which isn't what I play Battlefield for. Have they mentioned anything about a hardcore mode? I typically stick to HC in previous titles. It seems like it would be a nightmare with the current lack of visual clarity.

The sounds and music are so fucking exhausting. After disabling the music, that radio voice, and hit sound effects, the game instantly became 10 times better. Also there is a strange input lag on pc which I can't seem to fix, no matter the fps. And the graphics looks like pubg.

There's never been a successful BF live service so it's hard to tell what they'll give us when they make money but if I were to guess I'd say three maps per season. Each location has two maps, throw in one remade map alongside each new location, that's three.
Season 1 would be the two California maps and maybe Downton as the remake, then season 2 would be a new location with two more maps and Talah Market, and so on.

This is a game that will die by the maps. Despite copying a lot of stuff from modern warfare (weapon customization/leveling, ui, etc.) those are easily survivable changes. Everything being infantry chaos slop is a problem. And not in a good way too like Metro. Cairo was obviously designed by someone who worked for COD and the new map coming looks the exact same. There’s barely any verticality or alternate routes that are in a typical BF.

The ADHD gunplay is too MW2019 and if you go back to bf4 you'll see it only needs to be slightly faster than that and it would be perfect for the game's format which is supposed to be a more positionally based cooperative experience, not run n gun kdr padding.
bf1 and bf5 went for a weird hybrid cinematic/competitive experience which really doesn't work because you get the worst of both worlds.

Then again I don't think the battlefield formula really works for modern audiences anymore. They're just going to be a 'grounded' CoD. Grounded in 2025 meaning women screaming on the battlefield I guess.

As someone who has no-lifed vehicles in every BF title up to BF1: no. I am and have argued in every single forum every since for a system of incentives that promotes teamplay and a balance achieves through teamplay.

That's projection and misinterpretation of complaints. It's not (just) about vehicle design, but especialy map design and retarded, kneejerk changes that push problems around but never fix them.

Take the mountain map: it's dreadfully small and a mess to fly in, and all infantry and armor is squeezed into chokepoints. Now, guess what happens: jets are exclusively strafing chokepoints to farm infantry and are spending half the match behind the mountainrange. Armor is free to farm the chokepoint, as strafing is impractical given map design. What balance has been achieved? None at all. Jets aren't fulfilling their role as air support, they (are incentivized to) ignore armor and farm infantry. Armor, being ignored by jets, is farming infantry, too. Once the game comea online, infantry will ragespawn with stingers without any coordination, butthurt about the jet and oblivious of the armor. In this regard BF never changes only the maps get smaller and are ever worse designed, while everything is riddled with RNG "skill gap compression" which effectively makes everything more tedioua but doesn't stop bad/solo players getting farmed by good players and even medicore teams (2+).

Streaks like +50:0 are possible in armor and air in lobbies populated by dreadful, mute soloplayers, in every single BF title. You'll also have these streaks in BF6, precisely because the problem (major discrepancy between player skill and ego) is never acknowleged abd thus never resolved.

But the bare foundation isn’t enough and hopefully BF7 will actually increment on the previous titles.

FPS games lost their appeal when tryhards got too invested into them. BC2 on the ps3 was tons of fun because everyone was retarded and shit at the game, it doesn't matter how good BF6 is it will never capture that spark ever again because players have evolved past being able to have fun.

What differentiates the classes are the gadgets and skills they have?
I've played bf since 1942 and there's no point in locking weapons to certain classes when one weapon family dominates. Yeah I'd love to play support or recon sometimes in bf3 but I'd always be at a disadvantage when fighting against assaults because they had the best guns and could heal themselves. So if I wanted to win I'd be forced to play assault all the time.
