Too busy scrolling through social media and short form content for quick dopamine bursts.

The core of vidya enjoyers will always exist, but in the year 2025, with AAA devs failing left and right and not meeting shareholder expectations, you can really see how many tourists and secondaries have infested this hobby.

It seems to be the severe ADHD board. OP made a thread and couldn't even stay in the thread for 20 minutes. At least we discovered that he was just talking about himself when he said "nobody plays games anymore". I do hope OP makes another thread in future, because it'll likely be auto filtered. People dodge me once and I dodge them eternally.

I don't necessarily think this is ADHD. Its just that a large majority of /v/'s userbase is not really worth responding to. Sometimes making a thread to simply express an idea and then piecing out is the way to go.

That makes no sense. If he wants to "peace out" then why even make the thread? It would be like me replying to you and then hiding the post so I can't see you reply. I'll demonstrate.

Have a look at the screenshot. If OP made a thread and fucked off, it would be as logical as what I did here. The only explanation possible is that he made a thread and he can't focus on something for 20 minutes.

Video games were a low cost high dopamine pastime for decades, but technology has evolved to the point that social media (including 4chan), porn, and algo-driven video sites produce far more dopamine than vidya, rivaling drugs and gambling.
If I was to take away your smartphone and home internet connection within a week of painfully resetting your brain to baseline real-life stimulation then video games would be the most stimulating low-effort activity in your life again. It's all relative.
