I think most of the Asano games are better than a large majority of the SNES/PS1 titles.

Sakaguchi tanked the company and the good devs left, while NTR obssessed devs stayed on board.

I remember owning or renting those games when they were released. Vagrant Story and IX are fucking goated. Front Mission 2, Einhander, both eve games and VIII were either meh or straight shit and the rest of the lineup were okay to good.

If you think ALL of those games are "great" you probably suffer from a form of arrested development.

This piece of dog water. I think this game was the inspiration for the bouncer, which was just an okay game.

Tactics and VII are better than IX

VII materia system made the jobs and skill for each character kind of pointless but it fits the story and the story gets kind of boring until you reach the end.

Tactics has maps issue and is just an inferior Tactcis Ogre, which was designed by the same person. story is also lacking.

IX is quite literally the last Final Fantasy game and just about everthing after it is a different flavor or FF7 or FF8 (12 being the lone exception)

That's not true, X is way different than VII or VIII in its tone. The whole world took inspiration from like Southeast Asia, and then the whole setup with the religion was cool, along with reveal that this super powerful summoner manage to course magic through people to keep the memory of Zanarkand alive. X is also way different in its pacing, the story demanding something much more straightforward. Literally, the game's biggest weakness is basically that you're railroaded up until the very end. I think the only issue was that the story didn't seem clear on how exactly Auron was able to go back and forth between the "dream" of Zanarkand and Spira. I know he died and that he was just a spirit from Zanarkand, but Tidus knows him? It's confusing.

VII was about environmentalism. VIII was about wacky time travel. X was a pilgrimage motivated by a religion designed to keep the dream people from the distant past alive by benefiting from the cycle involving sacrifices to Sin.

Squaresoft slowly declined in quality when it became Square-Enix. The issue is that the decline is extremely gradual, spanning decades so people don't notice right away. What keeps SE alive for now are aging gamers who hope the next SE AAA releases will give them the same high they had when they were playing those famous, older Squaresoft titles. This copium has been going on for decades and people haven't woken up to this fact yet.
