Most people looking to play any form of shooter likely want first person for the most part. It's anecdotal but I never run into fps players that put a few hours into a TPS without realizing "this would be a better game as an FPS". Rivals is the big neon sign making my point recently. Ultimately I feel that games with a decent amount of gunplay/projectiles + TPS/FPS mixed in should allow the player to pick which one to use at any moment, most shooters that meat the aforementioned criteria would be massively improved by allowing the player to toggle betwixt third/first person perspective at any moment.
