It's really nothing special. The pacing goes to shit when you get the dream nail and it takes way to long to get your mobility upgrades.

Nobody asked.

ITT: who asked? The answer: no one.

It's a bloated mess. I have to assume people that praise it for the amount of content v price are either young students or just starting their careers (and also have little experience with other games in the genre), which I understand. I was there too. Or just third worlders. I shudder to think how much there will be to slog through in Silksong with its extended development time.

What? It was the complete opposite for me.

Ah, it's retard hours. I see.

This game had some unforgivable flaws for me. The main one I will always whine about, and the fanbase never ceases to invalidate me:
>go get the shade cloak
>have to defeat the Broken Vessel boss
>fun and challenging fight
>beat boss, get the cloak
>on the way back, realize it's possible to dream nail the boss for a fight against Lost Kin
>try it
>similar mechanics but faster
>very challenging but also very fun
>start bashing head against the boss
>eventually become so good at the boss I can stun him 20 times and he still won't die
>google it in the wiki
>that fucker not only has more mechanics, is faster and has more damage, he also has OVER TWICE as much health as Broken Vessel
>was meant to be revisited later on in the game
>yet the game just throws him in your path and gives no signs that you are not meant to fight him yet
>killing him at that point would take over 100 attacks
Man fuck this game. Every time I met a boss I kept wondering if I was supposed to be fighting them. The developers didn't get the memo from the games they were trying to copy. In Dark Souls I can always trust that whatever boss I come across can be reasonably defeated unless I am going out of my way to sequence break.

I mean, I agree that, for someone with your disability, it's unfortunate that the game doesn't explicitly force you not to fight certain bosses, I just don't see why anyone who isn't retarded would care.

Also other problems I had with the game:
>keeps assigning you objectives that are located on opposite directions of the world to artificially pad the game's length
>example: have to get something at the highest part of the world, then have to go to the deepest part, then to tthe leftmost part, then the rightmost part, rinse and repeat
>game constantly forces you to return to a location that is far away from any travel point (god home)
>casual game with an insane difficulty spike at the end because the developers clearly wanted the game to be remembered as hardcore
>game somehow leaves you even more clueless than dark souls regarding what the fuck you are doing or what hte main quest is

It was fun throughout. The combat feels good, especially against bosses. The presentation is excellent. It isn't overly long but there's still a lot of stuff to do. It's challenging, but mostly fair, and it feels great to steadily master the game and overcome stuff that kicked your ass before. The Pantheon of Hallownest SUCKS BALLS though. I admit without shame that after like 4 hours of attempts and dying on random jobber ghost bosses that I just made a save state at the start of Nightmare King and restarted from there until I beat Absolute Radiance.

Judging quality based on play time is actual retard behaviour. I like HK but it's pacing is poor especially in the beginning and even then traversal takes too long. Silksong adding a sprint alone is an improvement but hearing them say they're inflating the size of the map to scale it to Hornets mobility is concerning, metroidvanias are better when nice and compact

I didn't realise people did godhome content before beating the game. I just did every boss before unlocking godhome and then did all of the pantheons in one go.

>"waah why is it so reddit?"

I'm replaying now funny enough, first time since around release. I've always considered it a flawed good game but honestly I appreciate it even more now.
I will say I think some things are in terrible locations that you're obviously supposed to backtrack to a lot. Getting around is kind of slow and shitty. I'm not a fan of corpse runs especially in a game where you might want to explore in a different direction instead of going right back.
The game is fair though. Like it's known ass being harder than the average Metroidvania, but it's never trying to pull La Mulana tier shit. It makes you think, explore, and adapt but not where near punishing or cryptic to the point where you want to look up guides.
I hope Silksong fixes a lot of this because it's still a great game, especially for their first attempt.

But anon, if you stunned Lost Kin 20 times, even if you only had the basic nail and never used magic, that would be more than enough to kill him. If you have a level 3 nail he only takes ~95 nail hits to kill, which is 7 stuns.

Having traversal in any game is padding. Nothing is added by having to move from one space to the other.

But the traversal is FUN! I bet you got filtered by Path of Pain/Path of Kino.

Why are you presenting a demanding platforming challenge as a defense of traversing the map being uninteresting?
