Sometimes I'm looking at AI output and rating it depending on whatever criteria the customer is looking for, other times I'm looking at other stuff. Right now I'm working on a project where we're collecting voice samples from people around the world. Right now the bulk of my day involves listening to some contractor from some random country, making sure they accurately transcribed what they said, making sure they accurately described the background noise, determining whether or not they sound natural (reading is a no-no), and categorizing their clip (for example Questions/Engineering, Discussions/Philosophy, etc.) There's some other administrative work and answering questions etc but most of it is just data entry.
On other projects I've seen actual chatlogs of what people are talking about with AI with names redacted. GPT and other chatbots are like catnip for schizos.

On complex projects this can mean like 4+ man hours of work for 1 piece of training data. Also because of how important quality is they only hire actual native English speakers for most grunt roles, which means you're paying American, UK, Irish, Australian, or NZ wages to everyone involved. I think we're going to see a complete market implosion within the next few years, because the whole thing is a total pipe dream. Consumer apathy is going to kill a lot of projects and we're heading for another worldwide recession on a whole new level, anyone who doesn't have a year's worth of food stockpiled, the fuel to prepare it, and the people to defend it, is going to starve to death. Banks lending money to retards caused the 2008 recession we've never recovered from, and banks/governments lending money to literal snake oil merchants are going to crash the world economy because it's too big of an arms race to "lose", even though there's no way to win.

Everyone is focusing on the wrong thing when it comes to the intersection of videogames and AI.
AI should not be making the games, but it should be an integral part of them. Think LLM-powered NPCs you can have actual conversations with, enemies that are much more intelligent than current rudimentary AI is capable of and procedural narratives that actually make sense and have continuity instead of being composed of pre-generated chunks.
>>717901775>>717901860I said funding, not users. Brown LARPers trying to deflect.
Why do Indians think that a video of someone running for 10 seconds is a videogame?
I'm genuinely confused.
Do they not have videogames over in India to be able to tell the difference?
>>717902449I don't care. Amerimutts are shoving trillions in the magic thinking box bubble (speculative investment in AI is larger than all consumer spending, the bubble is propping up their economy from collapse right now), because it will magically make them world hegemon again somehow by monitoring antisemitism.
But it's the fucking third worlders that spam that garbage online because they have zero taste and believe it will make them CEO and white.

>>717902386You do not need "AI" to do that. Let alone LLMs AKA language generators with tacked on "reasoners" (based on language generation self prompting). Regular old machine learning does that, look up what a state machine is.
>>717902920Nah. Except I responded to giving NPCs better AI part.
LLM hallucinated narratives would be a fucking disaster because of inconsistency, memory limits, repeated idiosyncrasies or -isms etc. I've done LLM powered roleplay for years and it needs a lot of handholding, retries, guardrails, steering. No way it would work for an actual game, it would veer way too far into schizophrenia.
Also, this doesn't guarantee that what randomly generated shit you get is going to be GOOD. It has "infinite potential" for sure, but most of that won't be GOOD.
>>717902850Why has no one done it before now, then? The moment LLMs hit the scene, we began to see tech demos of dynamic NPCs.
>>717903043Not to mention that it's really fucking EXPENSIVE. A single prompt from Opus is like 10 cents. Imagine live prompting narratives, behaviors, NPC and enemy AI, schedules etc. every second.
And don't tell me you'll run this garbage locally on your GTX 1080Ti. And it will of course be cloud cucked, mandatory internet connection, DRM, all your data harvested and collected etc.
>>717894592>AI generated videos of fake video game footageyes
>>717903043Something not working today does not mean it won't work in the near future. GPT-4's code was often erroneous and needed to be touched up by a human to get what you asked for, and now GPT-5 will more often than not give you exactly what you prompted for out of the box.
It's a popular meme to go "Two more weeks!", but in the case of this technology, it really does seem like breakthroughs happen all the time.
>>717903051>The moment LLMs hit the scene, we began to see tech demos of dynamic NPCs.And it will stay like that. Or maybe you can make the Milo tech demo real, the tech for that is almost there if you make a full stack of LLM + text to speech + some plugin to connect it to vtuber software.

>>717900646So let me get this straight, from your post and others ITT.
It's all about consume product. Doesn't matter about the quality since I guess the idea here is that you churn out one after the other and hope at least one is decent. Doesn't matter at what "cost" it comes, what we lose for it, what changes.
You're just dreaming of that ideal of sitting on your chair getting fat going
>hm make me uhhhh...waiting for a while and you get something, idealistically it being that perfect video game or porn or whatever you want, and if it doesn't generate exactly what you want you just do it again and again. Will it be able to actually do that, you don't know, that's what you dream about right now. You hope it is. It must be able to... eventually cause AI is almost like magic.
While I guess I may come out as slightly antagonistic there excuse me for that, am I correct in that assumption?

Why do you think majority of the work has been outsourced to 3rd world countries? Because that work is so simple even barely sentient pajeet can do it. These are the jobs that are trivial for AI to automate, and AI doesnt ask for breaks or pay, works 24/7 and will never unionize. We'll see effects in 1st world countries too, since not all monkey-work can be outsourced. After that the leap to mid-complexity jobs isnt impossible. Being able to kick out 90% of your staff is such a major temptation that companies will pour money into AI until it happens.
>>717897757radiation didnt kill anyone really
i dont remember exactly but i think it made it so hot that most of the water evaporated and then rained down as toxic waste (i guess that counts as a radiation death if you drank it)
it also made the rivers boiling hot so that the people jumping in melted
but plenty of people survived and one guy survived a second nuke
so the game would probably be about not dying of dehydration while avoiding the all sources of water because it will kill you
>>717902386Just a tangent, but people dont actually want smarter AI for enemies. This has been researched a dozen times. Enemies that flank, flush you out effectively, work as a team and so on are felt unfair and unfun to fight against.
And even PvP-oriented players hate fighting smart player IF they know its a bot. Losing to player is fine. Losing to AI they think is a player is fine. But losing to AI they know is a bot makes even PvP people fume. No idea why though.

>>717897138the reflection doesn't make sense, it looks like they're way further from the whiteboard than they actually are
>>717904162>It automates tons of stuff. Already has.Funny you should bring up India, because it "automates" the same way Indian outsourcing "produced." Instead of a team of programmers locally sourced they tried to replace them with Indians. This did not work. In order to save face they would then hire an extremely highly paid westerner to rescue the Indian fail boat who would probably have carried the whole project without India if you let him. Net cost reduction for the company was zero or less than zero, but the face was saved so it persists despite being the literal worst model ever. We are repeating this bullshit but with AI instead. Idiots try to replace team with AI, it doesn't work, they then try and use highly skilled individuals to rescue AI bullshit, but AI bullshit is so hard to work with you wind up having to pay for someone who was capable of carrying the whole project on their own anyway. Net cost savings zero.
>>717896867LLMs work best when specialised. The broader the data you train them on the less focussed they are and fall off into the weeds on prompts far more often. You can take a broad model and tie it down with loras but that again is the original problem: you can have nice images with bad text or good text with bad images. The closest we can get is stacking multiple generations with multiple models/loras with manual inpainting. And again we're wandering down the path of more manual labor to fix what was supposed to be an automated time saver.
>>717882318 (OP)>>717882481How is any of this supposed to "play" or even be a game? It's clear that everything that was simulated there is just an interactive cutscene.

It's very obvious to anybody with their toes in the water that AI isn't going away, and that it's going to completely take over all forms of media production.
>>717904348>Enemies that flank, flush you out effectively, work as a team and so on are felt unfair and unfun to fight against. They are unfair because most implementations give them the magical ability to know where you are at all times, perfectly synchronize with each other and go straight to you unlike a real player who would have to search and coordinate with team members.
>>717905120You're the case in point my friend. Practically all shooter games made after 2005 have "last known location" they'll search first and which they'll shoot towards instead of player's actual location if they lose line of sight. Both of which get really boring when you are doing it for every enemy.
I'm fine playing with real people, i'd be fine if the AI actually played like a person instead of having god-like knowledge of the environment and game state to hide the fact it isn't really looking at the world or having to think about anything. They should have no information a player wouldn't have especially on things happening out of their line of sight.
In a lot of games they don't even actually simulate the running, they just have them teleport around where you can't see them.

No doubt the few clips we are seeing are the best of the best out of thousands of tries and they can't even make those more than a few seconds before cutting the part where they take a shit.

>>717882481>Walking sim >>>>>>Gameplay AI is a huge scam
>>717918846That's only a problem in a traditional MMO where abilities hit regardless of positioning. If a player can avoid getting hit through movement or an active dodge, even a squishy healer can weather being the target for a while.
>>717918514I'm not into this sunk cost mindset. Sure, there's plastic in your balls, but that doesn't mean you should just not think about reducing it in the future. You might think it can't get worse but I consider myself more open minded to the possibilities. This moment right now is likely the most free you will ever be for the rest of your life just because it's constantly being chipped away whether you're complicit in it or not.
It's really beneath us to be having a conversation on whether we should be celebrating or resisting that process. The answer's obvious to anyone lacking the suicidal ideations.
>>717919235its been tried a few times and the reason it doesn't work is because of how physically blocking the mob/boss from being able to attack the healer doesn't work when there's any latency, so the only way to implement a system like that was to kite the boss around.

>>717896163>>717918846Literally every game with a boss that has priority has done that. That's why there's defensive skills so you can protect the weak healer. You're selling bear insurance.
>>717907745Only America and China matter nowadays.
>>717926073Why are you unable to answer the question?
>>717926140But the priority has always been decided by some static factor such as;
>Has a player taunted me? If so, attack that player>Is player's X stat the lowest/highest of the party? Attack that player>Has player dealt the most damage to me? Attack that playerWhat this AI is (purportedly) doing is making an informed choice based on player actions. For example, if a player casts a defensive cooldown, the boss might suddenly turn its focus onto another more vulnerable target and when the defensive runs out, it hits that character with a tank buster now that they cannot use their cooldown to soak it.
It is still a case of "IF -> THEN", but the decision making process is much more involved. Purportedly.
>>717926502why can't you find posts that aren't yours talking about "moneymaking?"
>>717926702Answer the question. You've been dodging it for hours now.
>>717926624anon they've been toying with that in mmo development for decades. its not hard to do, people just fucking hate it, because it makes using defensive abilities worthless. its completely effortless to code a mob to ignore someone when they activate whatever ability. there are even some cases where its still in game, like divine shield or iceblock, used in wow for decades to drop aggro.
>>717926906I'll help you out, see, you accused people of talking about how ai would make huge amounts of money, despite no one ever making such a claim. At various points in college for instance, we were essentially required to have a smartphone, which I thought was insane even then. I'm still a modern man with many of the flaws that entails, but I am putting in effort to resist the enthusiastic increase of technofetishism I see daily. There are certainly things I stand to improve on for my own benefit.
I'm not outright anti-tech, but we're in a culture that refuses to acknowledge or address the negatives much of it has brought that we could easily live without. >>717896339The most interesting thing about AI right now is we're realistically looking at what will one day be considered the morse code of AI generation. 2 years ago AI was a massive joke used for generating funny images but in those short years its advanced far enough where it can create short films and pictures indistinguishable from real hand drawn and photographic shots. It's genuinely only a matter of time until a company shits out a "virtual companion" that sits on your phone and you can talk to endlessly - kind of like a portable Neuro-sama with higher intelligence - and everything explodes from there. That's the real end game of AI where you can have your own virtual gf who you can ERP with through voice. That's how you get people to buy. I'd buy that instantly.

Technofetishism is what you see when someone posts their real name with their real face online, posting their life's personal details whether they're marital, financial, or whatever, this chronic oversharing. You think that's been on the downtrend? I think that anonymity is straight up a social taboo in polite society nowadays. That "common sense" that everything you put online is there forever has been completely overwritten. Everyone wants to be able to stalk you, to find out as much about you as possible without talking to you. Don't have social media? LLM - large LANGUAGE MODEL, it simply predict what is the most likely next word will be. Actual intelligent being - human -- would read the riddle and figure this out, but AI simple got a bunch of familiar words with familair connections and and run with language relations.
The proper answer would be "family". The relationship between surgeon and the boy - "they are family" (and surgeon is his father)
AI was tricked without any trickery involved
