I've played like 50 games on SNES and ALTTP and DKC1+2 are the only truly great games.

PS2 is infinitely more overrated.

N64 had very small quantity and low variety, but it still had tons of truly great games like Sin & Punishment, Star Fox 64, Rogue Squadron, Zelda OoT, Zelda MM, Paper Mario, and F-Zero X. That's far better than SNES.

I think most old games are typically carried partly by nostalgia and partly by standing out for their time rather than standing out overall. DKC games had very good movement, mechanics, and level design that holds up today. LttP similarly has good world design, though puzzles feel overly simple and I don't find any of the bosses interesting. Super Mario World nails the mechanics flawlessly, but very few stages are interesting or engaging.
