I immediately liked it, and have kind of been liking it less as it's gone on. All of the best stuff was the worldbuilding at the start. Hope it gets back to that, because right now it's like all of the tension has gone out of the story, and my characters are just doing odd jobs, and having pally banter with each other.
Feels woman coded. Has that "gosh, wouldn't it be great to have friends!" tone that every piece of woman media has. Gustave is sensitive and foppish boyfriend material, who upon greater inspection seems to resemble Hugh Grant.

It's definitely not a Final Fantasy clone, zoomers have no idea what they're talking about. The dodge and parry system simplifies the game way too much to call it a a game with real turn-based battle system. Heck, even the new Yakuza games have more in common with old timey JRPG's. It's a shame because I went into it expecting a more classic RPG when it's nothing like it.

It feels that way because the game is clearly more concerned about story, characters, and creating a well presented narrative as opposed to just world building. The setting isn't given any priority over the events that happen in it, and most of the world itself or the rules it functions on are left intentionally vague and not elaborated on. It's the right way to tell a story. World building is nice but it doesn't make a story any better. E33 knows that what really matters is the people, their interactions, their stories and how they connect to the core themes. That's why you get the "woman media" feel from it, because most media for women is very relationship or romance focused and therefore focuses on characters rather than world building. But at the end of the day it makes for a better story regardless of who the target audience is.
