Defect will 100% return for STS2. I think the claw is the firts confirmed card in the first trailer. He will probably release at launch (not early access).

Defect is my favourite, but the problems he is are the complete opposite of what you say. The defect is TOO synnergistic for a game with RNG deckbuilding. In 99% of cases you need focus, but there are only three cards that give you focus, and on eof them is hard to use. This usually means that if you don't get data disk, defragment of biased cognition, your options are waaay too limited.
Then you have what, loop + dark orbs and multicast? Even claw decks pretty much need frost orbs (the most fovus relaint orbs).
