Memorable world/mythos and some great visuals and music. Other than that you'll probably fall asleep. Like virtually every JRPG in existence, the plot becomes largely incoherent, the gameplay sucks, and it overstays its welcome.

It's a great game. The only downside (unless you don't like JRPGs in the first place) is that the sidequests are basically all MMORPG tier fetch quests. Some of them are interesting. If you really want to do them (you don't have to), I recommend using a guide because they're also dependent on day/night cycles etc. and running miles and miles just to find that the nigga you needed isn't there because condition x or y hasn't been fulfilled or you were too early or late is just annoying.

Remember you can swap which party member you control. Try other characters aside from Shulk, they all play vastly different and you may like their style more than Shulk's.
If you're playing DE, turn on Expert Mode so you can do side content and exploration without becoming grossly overleveled.

Cool world and story, absolutely incredible soundtrack, visual direction is great even though the technical execution kinda suffers, combat is surprisingly engaging for how little you actually do in it, meme English voice acting but like meme in a good way. One of my favorite Switch games and Nintendo games overall.

The number of people in this thread who criticize JRPG combat in a JRPG can only mean that it's zoomers/pajeets (they're the same, really) are out in full force again.

I think most of my problem with the voice acting isn't so much the quality than no one bothered to check if the voices match the mouth movements. And it gets very noticeable when they attempt close up shots. A problem that somehow got worse in Xenoblade 2. Adam Howden isn't terrible, I think his awkward yelling actually fits Shulk fairly well given how awkward he is all the time.

For me Dunban and Fiora are the most fun to control. Melia is just hilarious in how casually overpowered she is. She can fight enemies 10 levels above her and so long as her friends keep aggro off her, she can watch them corrode into radioactive ash. I used to like Shulk a lot but his positional gameplay ended up feeling awkward after getting used to Dunban. I know Reyn is supposed to be the highest damaging character but I never seem to care about using him on point. Riki is cool support but I don't use him either

I'm fine with english speech not matching mouth flaps, as long as the sentiment is properly communicated. I know it's originally in a FOREIGN LANGUAGE, I know it's a DUB. There are A LOT of dubs that either fuck up the translation or fuck up the phrasing because they try too hard to match mouth flaps.

I played it earlier this year. I always wanted to play it back in the day but never got my hands into it, combat gets somewhat interesting when you start combo'ing with everyone, but it also gets a little repetitive. Story is good, I really like the sense of scale, I liked the music as well. I played it on Switch tho.

I wish Monolth attempted something like Xenosaga again but made it better this time around.
