Is it worth it to get into SF6 in the current year? I've never really gotten into fighting games except Smash on the 3DS back in the day

SF6 sucks for noobs who want to get into fighting games proper, because you will be constantly matched against other noobs who use modern controls as a crutch.

It is functional if you have an active drive to learn and compete.
It is a completely soulless game that will give you nothing but anger and disappointment that loses every single thing that's actually enjoyable about the genre, and has received no meaningful updates in over two years now.

It's a lot of fun. Best fighting game on the market. Getting good takes a while (or might never happen) but its still fun to play even as a scrub. The game has a huge player base so you dont have to worry about high ranked players farming you in ranked

I used to consider myself a huge Street Fighter fanboy. But SF5, followed by SF6 were complete ass, and now I don't consider myself a fan of the series. I'm an old-man so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

SF6 has a butt-ugly art-style. It also has this mechanic where the characters unreact-ably glow green and lurch forward the entire length of the screen to close distance, it turns the game into (even more) of a reaction-test and removes the usual fighting game neutral.
