How? The game points to exactly where you need to go. If you're not suppose to be in an area, they wall it off with high level enemies or a literal wall that gets removed after some village progress.

Adol is famously quoted as having replied to the question, "Why did you want to climb Mount Gendarme?" with the retort "Because it's there", which has been called "the most famous three words in mountaineering". Questions have arisen over the authenticity of the quote, and whether Adol actually said it.

It's one of the things I hope they start noticing if they make Ys 11. I didn't really like how in Napishtim style games your ONLY way to dodge was jumping around like a retard but I certainly miss all of the attacks that you had to clearly jump over. Plus they don't design the dungeons as much with jumping challenge + enemies anymore.

Not as mindless as you make it out to be.
You also have to actually attack at some point.

>>717940724
I like that they are HP tanks and heals are limited. It makes you learn the boss.
YS 8 just lets you farm 5000 coconuts and ignore any danger.
Limited heals is the right blend of old YS and party YS. YS 7 is a masterpiece

>>717923959
The narrative claiming that this quote is misattributed to Adol is quite compelling, as many records clearly show that Adol would only communicate by shouting the names of his attacks and grunting in Bryce Papenbrook
>>717940075
It's an offensive type of parry slop, you want to actively get into the attack hitboxes to get those 3 or so seconds of iframes so you can go on the offensive. It's still braindead but at least it was a fresh take on the system.
>>717942391
I don't mind the parry but I hated the slowdown dodge. I generally hate slowdown in action games, it's a pet peeve. But X introducing attacks you couldn't parry was a nice thing. Until they butchered it a bit and made you just press another button with little positioning in mind. What they should have done is make those unparry-able attacks be dodged through good positioning including jumping.
>>717940075
