I enjoyed Bananza but it absolutely is not an $80 game. It has some of the same bloat problems that Odyssey had and I can't help but feel like its most interesting mechanic is sometimes its greatest detriment in how it allows you to just brute force so many solutions. Also, really disappointing amount of outfit options compared to Odyssey.

A few reasons for that. First, they didn't need to design any of the outfits for Mario. Those were all pulled from their 30 years of archives of every single costume Mario had been depicted in, in spinoffs and ads and so on. DK doesn't really wear anything ever. And Pauline barely qualifies as a character.
Second, they made the mistake of giving the outfits actual gameplay altering stats and mechanics, so if they kept adding more they would have had to come up with more bonuses.
