Because the Greek Gods were assholes who repeatedly screwed him because they viewed him as a pawn, and when he struck back he was treated as if he did something wrong.
The Norse saga was a retarded therapy session that didn't need to happen. Kratos may have doomed Greece but he was completely justified. It's called a "tragedy" for a reason.

Kratos' first course of action was to play along and please Olympus. He served for a decade after he was tricked into murdering his family by Ares and upon achieving godhood he was gaslit into doing work for Athena under the promise of having his nightmares stop only for her to turn around and say "I'm not doing that lol" after the deed is done. They were screwing him harder than he does Aphrodite.
Old Kratos is far more reasonable than people give him credit for, and while he is undoubtedly a cruel and ruthless man that did more damage than he needed to he only went on a rampage after the gods became corrupted by the box and Zeus had actually killed him.
