Is there even one good survival crafting game?
>start game
>open crafting menu
>Stone Axe [Stones 0/2 | Sticks 0/1]
>Workbench [Boards 0/10]
>close game
>uninstall
Why are they all like this?
Is it impossible to make an interesting open-world sandbox game with crafting?

Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they're not good.

building is the only fun part then you realize what you built is made out of template lincoln logs and doesn't ever feel like an actual place anymore
like walkin on legos that are glued together

There's stuff like Subnautica and Abiotic Factor if you want survival crafting without start off at the stone age.

You have to make it worthwhile and provide a compelling incentive
It worked in Subnautica because the survival crafting is a means to an end to progress an actual structured story
Meanwhile I think crafting for the sake of it only appeals to a specific kind of autism

But it's litearlly always the same process in a different setup.
The significant mechanical differences come much later and are often times really minor.

Subnautica was fun because of the exploration more so than because of the crafting.
Long Dark was okay, surviving felt comfy, despite the weird and slow story.
I didn't like Raft, Terraria, No Man's Sky, Valheim and Don't Starve.
