I have played the demo. The art style is nice, but it isn't nearly to the level of kino that Solatorobo was. There's no could cities or cool robots, just metal slug looking tanks and hovercraft. All feels a lot more bland than the original.

You can play through the entire series, but the secret events you get for doing all the completionism stuff on 3 are where you get the stuff that teases the next game. Who knows? It looks like it's "bad future" so maybe they'll undo the whole thing altogether, but the Link Event between Hanna and Kyle in 3 implies otherwise with her having a "secret that she can't tell him".

The biggest change is that the tech level is lowered significantly. The Caninu are roughly in the 1860s technologically. Their robots, called steeds, look mechanical on the outside. But internally they're made up biological "muscles" which are dug out of the ground, wrought iron bones, crude oil blood, leather and asbestos veins, and a steam engine heart, pumping oil to fuel the muscles. The pilots, called riders, control these steeds by a series of wires tied around their bodies on all the limbs and fingers, which are connected via rope and pulley to the nerve endings of the muscles. And these steeds are all armed with simple melee weapons and muzzle loading guns.

The country is a post Napoleonic France inspired nation which had its government and army dissolved following dog Napoleon's failed attempt to conquer floating island Europe. Its only armed forces are steed riding mercenaries called lancers and local militias.

The story itself follows a dog girl mercenary who's been hired by a mysterious client to help him explore ancient and deadly ruins in the search for a lost treasure. Unbeknownst to her, her client is possibly the only surviving human, and he's on a mission.

Yeah, Red was a test tube baby made for science, but she did an awful lot of fucked up stuff for Baion. Seems a bit of a stretch to say it was all just for science. Especially when she was the nerdy bookish type, likely straight out of or currently in university, and he was an older man with biologically engineered perfect body, and a mind beyond that of any mortal, with untold knowledge of the universe and technology. He's the exact type that a girl like her would fall for and be manipulated by.
