No. It's a god-awful fanfic SEQUEL to the 1997 game and its half a dozen spinoff-sequels from the past 25 years.

The irony is, I made one such game myself as a teenager on RPGM. I dare to say it had a better plot than this demake.

This isn't ff7 remake
this is FF17 with characters from ff7 telling their own story which is already closer to kingdom hearts than anything else because Nomura is a fucking hack

Not really. They talk up bs about changing things but across both games they basically chicken out and make it mostly the same story. Exaggeration like that may as well be just lying.

Part 5 is that fish weapon and Ultima weapon extended stories
part 6 cloud goes retarded(shortest in the series,5 hours,120$ collector edition
Part 7 is the submarine extended storylines about fishes in the sea
Part 8 Shinra part 1+Omega weapon
Part 9 Shinra part 2+Hojo extended childhood stories
Part 10 is Chocobo racing FF7
Part 11 is the optional summons knights of the round table extended stories
Part 12 is a remake of crisis core
Part 13 is against Sephiroth, The Final Battle!
Part 14 is against Jehova and you explore space and it's a live service game that will never conclude
