I dont care about the people that make my games. Im picky enough with the games I do play, adding another layer would probably just make me quit playing games entirely as I find out every fucking person making them is mentally ill in one way or another.

The real answer is that he made the unplayable ones and left when the series actually shaped together as a competent video game.
He absolutely deserves praise for building the foundation, but the Elder Scrolls games he was involved with (the first two) are horrible games that play like shit.

Because he never made a name for himself. LeFay was apparently unwilling to deal with networking bullshit and suck up to people to get to positions where he could actually realize his ideas. I imagine there are more like him, but they're outnumbered by your Todd Howards.
