Beyond your lack of taste, despite Majora's Mask heavy reuse of assets they actually created a whole new world and not a single environment from ocarina is in it.
because the story and characters in ToTK are trash. ToTK is fun because of its mechanics and exploration but any time im interacting with the main story quest its shit.
im saying this as someone who likes the BoTW style of game more than the OoT style of zelda

the story in TotK sucks, the story in MM is hailed as one of the best in gaming
the new content in TotK is trivial and repetitive, MM quests may be fairly simple and linear but they're never the same
MM reuses character models, TotK reuses a whole damn map and makes it worse just so it's at least a little bit different
the gimmick in MM is congruent with its world, the gimmick in TotK is gamey and feels arbitrarily stapled onto the game

I dunno but I doubt 20 years later botw will be as fondly remembered as oot today, much less tiktok and mm, Jesus I was in those threads playing the game when it “pre launched” and we were all at best calling it a 7/10 game.

I don't either, but the quests in TotK are so shit they drag the game down even if you don't care about the story because guess what, context matters. Even in Doom.
