>absolutely swarmed by hackers drawn to the semi-competitive achievement and rank whoring system
>stupid high TTK on most weapons
>trash netcode and hit detection
>Titan mode literally unplayable because insane rubberbanding inside Titans even at low ping, making explosive spam and camping the only viable options
>single player supported only a tiny fraction of the maps and only with 8 players (bots) / team
>pitifully small amount of content, only basic weapons were faction-specific, very few vehicle types, even stationary weapons were shared

Correct. The only issue that one had was once again, trash netcode and hit detection, but it was by far the best in every way.

The maps sucked ass, too. The audio was fucking garbo. Overall a bad game unless you were a mechwarrior fan. It had some neat innovations like the class system and gadget selection, but that doesn't make up for the overall bad experience.

It used to be dope using drop pods to wall hack too. If I recall it used to be called pod surfing. You flew it backwards and had to have vehicle control sensitivity set to max. You had to wiggle the mouse left and right and then you could fly any where on the map. But more specifically clipping into geometry.

Many were gloomy, empty, almost desert-like. Highway Tampa being the most extreme example. With the sci-fi setting, it reminded a lot of people of Tiberian Sun, and by no coincidence there was an attempt to make a Tiberian Sun themed mod for the game. For all its shitty traits, I never had issue with the maps, specifically. It was the extremely unsatisfying gunplay that ruined it for me.

Last year I gave the game another shot, there was some community project to resurrect it. Without EA's master server all account data is lost, of course, so unlockables worked differently. More importantly, however, the infantry weapons were rebalanced, and the time to kill with them was much, much shorter than in the original game. It was like night and day, so much better than the original. No more retarded fights with two guys bunnyhopping around each other each emptying a mag without killing the other because you need half of it to kill someone on a good day but the game forgets to register two thirds of the hits on top.

It came out months after BF2 you clown.
If they kept 2142 cooking for another 12-18 months it would have sold way better.
2142 is very good. The Titan gameplay is also god tier and not been done since.

With the built-in drag and drop for custom music functionality... I loved it.

>YWN again blast Hell March from the tank as you blast away G.I after G.I.
