Intermissions are straight lines that encourage bagging until you reach the course with only one lap. Then you front run via shortcuts to win unless you get fucked by lightning or blue shells.

Why do people call them intermissions when they're not actually called that?

I live in Australia so get matched up with Japs 90% of the time and they always picked random when random guaranteed a 3 lap track.
Picking random no longer gives you a 3 lap track so a lot of people just choose the best of a bad situation.
I haven't played much since Nintendo ruined the game so not sure what people do these days. Fuck I hate this game so much now.
