>repairing
Literally you just have to hit shit with a hammer once when something damage it. And even then, player built stuff never "break", it just get packaged and you can just rebuild it, which repair it.
>preparing for raids
What preparation? Raids can be dealt with a single chopinator or tesla coil, and they don't occur until the bench is loaded so they'll never happen when you're out.

not that anon and i'm not scrolling through the whole back and forth for context, but i can kind of empathize with that early game experience. i'm ~15 hours in and i constantly feel rushed and stressed because of everything ticking by in the background and the surplus of events. i often find myself just wasting whole game days because i'm doing chores until ~3pm and i don't want to get caught out after dark after starting an expedition that late in the day. the enemies respawning and harsh weather events (nuclear) are consuming resources that don't respawn and that also adds a layer of time anxiety because i'm slowly hemorrhaging resources to attrition. ive been reading the terminals but i feel similarly flustered and rushed and i never really 'absorb' what i'm reading because i'm constantly trying to move fast to beat the day timer or one of my food/water/bathroom needs.

No, hence why I'm not sure why another is sperging out about time, there's nothing on a timer in this game.
> can i eventually just build stuff and fuck around forever or do you eventually run out of resources/food/water??
Stuff in the overworld eventually run out, unless you turn on the setting to respawn stuff, except enemies who always respawn (so you won't run out of food), stuff in portal worlds respawn everytime a portal reset.
So no, you won't run out of ressources.

So anything considered a "Portal World" has respawning furnishings and materials. For example, if you go to the kitchen in Office, break the fridge, and scrap it? It's gone permanently. However, if you do that in the kitchen in Flathill, the fridge will come back. Everything resets in Portal Worlds unless you are IN the Portal World at the time of reset. This includes Power Cells, Lodestones, Neutrino Mappers, and other important items. There are rare circumstances where items will respawn outside of Portal Worlds, but basically just consider everything outside of Portal Worlds non-respawning to be safe.

If you make the mistake of not keeping tomatoes and potatoes you find and end up running out of them, being unable to grow them- fret not, an NPC shows up later giving you the ability to obtain both, aswell as every area essentially having a kitchen with a fridge that may have one or the other. There are plenty of travelling NPCs though that provide you the ability to purchase things that may otherwise prove difficult to obtain.

Also, just grab every water cooler you see. They hold 4k water each and you can refill them. There's more than enough throughout the offices to last you until you can set up a boiling farm. and eventually you'll be able to build water filters that purify tainted water 1:1.

>Doctor Derek Manse reporting, GATE Cascade research facility.
>We've recently encountered a problem with one of the research assistants, after several female employees came forward claiming that he sexually assaulted them. The security team conducted a thorough investigation and found no definitive proof of the claims, which begs the question of why the employees made them in the first place. All of the female employees had, at some point in the last few months, been part of the research team dedicated to IS-0012, leading me to suspect that oh-oh-twelve's ability to mimic human forms may not be exclusive to the deceased Doctor Cahn. Either that, or the researchers have been exposed to some form of mind altering affect, likely originating from one of the other immurement subjects. I've placed all the female researches on administrative leave until such time as we can narrow down what might have truly caused this.

It's good in the sense that a prior playthrough will give your subsequent ones the advantage of knowing what you should and shouldn't bother with doing at a certain point in the game. For example I kind of ignored soup until security on my first playthrough but I made sure I was able to make soup before I went into flathill for the first time on my 2nd. Also spent more time doing the stuff I just avoided altogether like managing my base and making it look pretty. Plus you can tweak world setting from the start to have an easier time with annoying shit like stack sizes or to make the combat more punishing if that's your thing. I wish you could say you could use different weapons but there's already a lack of super viable ones desu. It's definitely a game I can see myself coming back to every now and then after it stops being my autistic obsession, though, plus the devs are supposedly going to keep making new content for it.

REMINDER
We now know who the true mastermind is now for the payment processor pressure campaign against anime, violent games and porn. The conservative christian run group Collective Shout is just a cover for Russ Vought, a co-writer for Project 2025, Director of the United States Office of Management and Budget, AND Acting Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

This man has already publicly stated his desire to have pornographic content, violent video games, and other types of content "harmful to children", banned from the internet.

In a two minute clip posted on YouTube by The Intercept the following transcript, highlighted in yellow, shows his intended starting point (start with children), and then he cuts himself off from explaining the next part of the plan, of violent video games, etc, as that route had failed twice already in the past few decades.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0noIS9lmR0Y [Embed] [Embed]

Now, in his position in the CFPB, Russ Vought has ultimate authority over payment providers and banks, and he has likely been abusing this power to strong-arm changes in these privately owned businesses regarding content he specifically had shown his distaste and hatred towards previously. All clearly telegraphed before hand, many years ago.

Don't for for Russ Vought's shills trying to do anything in their power to deflect from the fact, he is the one in charge of Visa and Mastercard and they are trying to crack down on porn and video games by attacking American companies now under his direction.
He has the motive, means and opportunity to do all this.

There's few fridges in office sector, but fairly early you find a portal world with one single fridge that respawns, giving you infinite fridges.
Also fridges cannot halt the decay. Only slows it down. For complete halt you have to play further and discover freezers.

Unless you like base building you need virtually 0 defenses. Every invasion is a joke by the time it becomes available, only happens when you're already at home and half of them get auto turned off by a bench upgrade. there is exactly as much as you want there to be

realistically speaking youll have to at the very least put down some storage boxes and a crafting bench here and there to put stuff in, but you can do most of the game without bothering with base building at all, or you can go full basemaxx and build an absolutely amazing comfy amenities everywhere base

there are base invasions but theyre honestly not a big deal at all. ive never had one even remotely threaten my base even early game

You can honestly ignore most of the base building if you want. You mostly just need some boxes and a crafting bench. Invasions happen, but they're very minor. But if you like base building, it's still pretty good. The only real issue is that you can build some great defenses but there's nothing to really threaten them.

You could either build a single base right at the start and never leave it
or
Build a base in the nearly 100% safe DLC backer area
or
Build multiple bases where ever the fuck you want because there are power outlets everywhere

Currently I have a main base with a couple of side bitch bases in other areas
Actual spoiler You get a device which lets you teleport to any benches you put down, so having multiple bases works as a form of fast travel

Been dragging my feet but I'm in Reactors finally. I spent too much time fucking around reorganizing my base and crafting stuff and whatnot once I got to Hydroplant. 90 hours, I'm glad I'm playing solo because I wouldn't want to feel rushed by friends, however I definitely want to do a coop playthrough when I finish this.
Partly why I'm losing motivation to nice-up my Furniture Store penthouse. It's great that it's big, but it's too fucking big. The actual build out will take I don't know how much planning and crafting and resources and shit, not to mention my loft idea is a bust. I'm sure it would have worked if I was able to get it level with the hanging planters, but setting it up on the rafter beams sets my crafting benches too high to reach all of my containers, even with the increased item-transportation range mod. In my next playthrough I'm just gonna set up in the Cafeteria or something and wait until I can move into the lounge in Power Services.

I played solo with adjusted settings. The game is fun, but at some point it turns into chores with too many things to do/to learn/to know.
I had the shitty flashlight for so long before I understood the regular ones were better. I had the radio backpack until hydroplant. Never made soup, never grew a garden, just having a diet of grilled alien meat. I just made some laser weapons, before learning they're a downgrade for my situation, since I didn't know laser charging is pain. My base is a mess and I just can't be bothered to move elsewhere.

I reached reactor and I stopped after powering the first one and doing a bit of exploration. Too much stuff requires the transuranic alloy (or w/e the name is), which requires too many things I don't have (like the arcanic stuff).

it doesn't add anything to the game if i need to build ten boxes.

i get it in rust, where you want to have physically separate boxes like gear lockers near a spawn or a safe storage in your bunker. but this isn't a game about pvp. so what's the point? just have a "base inventory" i can manipulate just like my player inventory, but only at the base.

Having some nebulous camp chest built into the crafting bench (the main structure that defines a base) would make it even more annoying to move your base imo because you'd be decompressing a huge inventory to fit into forklifts, carts, etc just to recompress it wherever you place the bench down.
The best solution is to stop hoarding non-unique items. Item discovery is important, but item collection is not. Until you find out you want 10 gizmos and 5 gadgets to craft a whirlydink, don't bother bringing more home.

How hard is it to just wait until you look at the crafting bench recipe to collect your materials? Recipes pin for a reason, which would be completely pointless if you just soak everything, spend hours transporting items back to base just to save like 10 minutes of collection for the thing you actually need.
