It depends on the game. If you are playing a war game and its PVE than probably Healer. If you are playing a PVP war game than DPS. But these are based on spectrums, which depend on the ratio of damage to healing. On top of that developers can have biases, different roles can be stronger/weaker than others.
As for war remember the most important thing in war is to fight, otherwise you aren't at war. And to fight is to die. Also, you cannot take terrority without force.
Anyways, this is also just my silly opinion and people are allowed to have preferences. So this all pretty moot.
On a side note, themeing is important, but things need to be practical. While one can choose to implement any strategy or tactics, there is always the argument of what is most efficient. And in a class-based game it can be easily measured.
