It's insane that they never used the Dracula theme from IV again, his best theme by far.

So can CV1 and RoB and they're both masterpieces. It's not a dick measuring contest, games are fun which is more important then perfect difficulty.

That's fine, I just think people get way too hung up on the difficulty. I find the later levels to provide a decent enough challenge and am always satisfied by the end. Obviously higher difficulty wuld be ideal, I can agree the game is easier then I would like, but it's a masterpiece like every mainline classicvania.

Autoscrollers are one of the most dated platformer mechanics and also one playable character is a big downgrade for a numbered sequel.

They just have to be paced well.

There is no water lowering autoscroller in 4 idk what you are talking about here

That part is boring yeah but it is also technically not an autoscroller

>game forces you to go at its pace, not at your pace

it represents being subjected to the ignorance of the average gamer
>this is more fluid and player friendly so that automatically means it's better
in the particular case of cviv they might be right but it hints at a fundamental limitation in their understanding of games, they have no concept of constraint defining gameplay outside of perhaps instances where it would directly benefit their ego, make the game easier.

I mean it still feels like Castlevania, it just doesn't feel like ultra stiff dogshit where you're constantly fighting the controls. They can actually get much more creative and challenging with level and boss design when you aren't a useless sack of shit with a fixed jump arc, two direction whip, glued to stairs, and needing to use an awkward two button combo for subweapons (especially an issue on stairs)

Multi-directional whipping removes pretty much all of the challenge of the first half of the game (The dungeon onwards is still hard though)
But, I'd argue that making the game easier makes the atmosphere and aesthetic stand out, which is amazing because SCIV is easily the best looking and sounding game in the entire franchise
Anonymous No.717969709 >>717969968
Eight-way whipping kicks ass but kind of invalidates subweapons
Bland aesthetically, which is strange for Castlevania
Literally do not remember any of its music that isn't Simon's theme in the first stage

Where is this meme coming from that SC IV is easy? It's harder than both Rondo and CV1. The levels and bosses are made much harder to compensate for the far better controls, and subweapons are still very useful as they have longer range, different attack angles, and higher damage.

Also fuck you, SC IV has one of the absolute best and most memorable OST on the SNES
Anonymous No.717970448
>>717969968
cviv's difficulty is generally more intuitive, you can sort of just feel your way through the game like you would any other platformer. I could see an intelligent player finding the simplicity of cv1 to be easier/more repeatable but for most players being forced into deliberate action is like a mental block.
